Marshall Amplification added the portable MG2FX to its popular MG4 line of guitar amps. It offers a user-friendly interface consisting of four dual-function knobs (augmented by a Tap/Shift button and a single-character LED display) to provide instant access to ten distinct gain stage settings, five digital effects, a two-band EQ, and a tuner.
For the ultimate in mobility, the MG2FX can run on battery power (via six "C" cells), and also includes an AC adapter for use in the home or any place power is available. The Gain and Volume knobsâalong with the ten-position mode knobâprovide popular tone flavors, including a shimmering clean tone, the famous Marshall "crunch," and all the overdrive needed for an over-the-top lead. The treble and bass knobs offer further tone tweaking. Digital reverb and delay are built-in, with an intuitive "Tap" button for setting the delay time (holding down the Tap/Shift button also activates the onboard tuner). In addition, a chorus, phasing or flanging effect can provide extra downstream sparkle to the sound.
The MG2FX also includes an MP3/line input for jamming along to any audio source. The headphone output allows for private practice, and also serves as a line output for recording or for connection to a larger sound system. The 6-1/2" speaker is powered with two Marshall-sized Watts for true rock sound.

I recently bought this amp and it has everything you will ever need in a portable amp. When you buy this amp you will be getting all of the features of the MG30 in a MS-2 size. It is the perfect amp to bring anywhere and you will want to bring this everywhere. Perfect amp for home practice too.
when you buy this amp, you have to realize that it isn't a full Marshall stack. It's a travel amp. That being said, for it's size and portability, there is nothing better. You still have the sounds that make a Marshall unbeatable in any type of genre you are playing. It sounds just as good with an electric plugged in with the distortion on as with an acoustic plugged in on a the clean sounds. It's perfect for a practice amp for at home or for carrying around around a campus, or even if you want to take it to a street corner and make some extra cash (just be warned that you may need extra batteries)
This is the best portable amp I've ever seen, But the batteries run out in like 5 hours of playing.
I got this amp, and I was really impressed with the clean tone (sounds plexi, think Hendrix or Red Hot Chili Peppers cleans) The high gain part reminds me of Jane's addiction tones. Not super high gain (mesa boogie dual rect) but if you want Marshall tones, it does that well. I have owned the Micro cube, various vintage amps (Fender Champ etc..) and this one puts all those to shame. Enjoi....
I ordered online and had it shipped to the closest Guitar Center and it arrived in 1 day! Plugged it into an acoustic/electric and was blown away by the tone and features. The effects are great! I was a little worried about only being 2 watts, but it sounds great and is a tremendous value.
I wanted something small and portable to truck around. This amp can amplify an acoustic ok if set for cleanest sound and I use it with my baby martin on a covered porch with batteries. Electric sound is also versatile and ok. This amp is built like a little rock except for the battery compartment which is difficult to use and caution must be exercised not to damage the lead wires from the compartment. I am definately glad I bought this though I wish the limits of the genre could be pushed further such as louder, smaller, and longer battery life. Very fun.
