Marshall has always sought to provide outstanding tone to guitarists of every budget, and with the new MA Series, all-tube Marshall tone is now more affordable than ever. The MA50H 50W tube head was carefully designed by Marshall's R&D team using the same basic principles as all Marshall amps”to deliver colorful, dynamic, unmistakable Marshall tube tone in a road-ready package.
The aesthetics of the MA50H head have been specially designed to create a look that stands apart from most other Marshall amps, while still retaining the essence of what people have become familiar with for over 45 years. Two orange LEDs illuminate the interior of the unit, highlighting the power tubes. This effect is visible through the fret cloth where the trusty white script logo is mounted onto a solid piece of transparent Perspex.
Tube Power And Tone Simply Executed
The MA50H is powered using the traditional Marshall mainstays of ECC83 double triode tubes in the preamp, and EL34 pentode tubes in the power amp. The layout and controls are kept simple, allowing you to explore unhindered the full potential of the all-tube tone within. The MA50H has separate EQ stages for both the Clean and Overdrive channels so you can optimally adjust each one without compromising the other. An extra benefit has been provided in the form of a tube-driven Boost function on the OD channel giving you, for example, a solo boost with more volume and gain. The amp also contains a spring reverb for use with all channels within the amp.
Intuitive And Practical
The MA50H was designed with the flexible control demanded by today's players in mind, but with a streamlined feature set to keep it cost effective. Whether in your own home or gigging, setting up the sounds and relative levels is very easy. The supplied footswitch assists live performance letting you toggle between settings like Clean to Overdrive, Clean to Boosted Overdrive, and Overdrive to Boosted Overdrive, ensuring maximum versatility.
Even though the MA range is designed as a no-frills, all-tube guitar amplifier, Marshall included a couple of extra features that allow for even more versatility. In addition to the all-tube preamp and power amp tone, MA amplifiers are equipped with an onboard spring reverb tank for an extra dimension to your sound. With the front-panel level control you can easily dial in how much you need for your own taste. All MA amplifiers are also equipped with a serial external effects loop for guitarists who want to add effects units into their sound. The nominal level of -10dBV is suited to stompboxes primarily, but not exclusively.

i waited a long time for this amp to come and when i got it, it didn't come with a power cord when it was supposed to!! i had a spare around the house though. I run the head through a MC2X12 cab and the clean channel sounds nice, but the overdrive channel only sounds good when the volume is at noon.the boost is the same way.If you play in your home like i do this amp will be too loud to play with full good tone. The amp is made in Korea and to me it sounds like it too. it misses some punch and feel the UK ones have. effect pedals sound nice through it, like delay and wha and it looks really nice, especially with the see through face cloth with the light is really cool, but it just doesn't make me want to play like crazy. I had more thrill waiting for it than having it.
I'll start off with the good. This amp looks really cool, and has only a slightly too expensive price tag, a real first for marshall. The clean channel is probably hands down the best I've ever heard on a marshall, achieving an almost acoustic tone at times. Very Impressive. HOWEVER. If you want a marshall you want the crunch and lead tones they're famous for. This amp falls flat on its face here. Plugged into a Bogner cab with Vintage 30's it sounds extremely loose "farting out" in the lows and mids are really undefined. The amp's boost makes this worse. It's not a BAD sounding amp, but when an MG, and marshall's new mg's aren't that bad at all for a solid state, but when an MG sounds better than this tube amp, Marshall has a problem. Skip it and go with something else. Bugera's in this price range completely destroy this amp. I recommend a Carvin X100B if you have the money for this. An excellent amp that has gobs of "modded" marshall tone.
Iv'e always loved the amazing sound of Marshall JVM and JCM heads but could never afford one. When these came out, it blew me away! It brings to the table something new with 2 channels and the sub-channel (overdrive boost), which makes it very versitile. the clean channel is very bright, and makes it easy to emulate acoustic tones. and the overdrive is perfect for great rythm tones, and screaming lead sounds with the boost. Thank you Marshall! You've brought the legendary Marshall tone to players everywhere!
I got my MA 50 watter today and like everyone says, The clean channel is good to go but I just can't seem to get a good overdrive or boost sound out of it. The reverb doesn't seem to be working either. Someone said that the overdive/Boost has to be cranked up for for the reverb to work.. That sucks and also doesn't sound right to me. I really didnt expect this head to sound like my JCM 900 but I did expect more from this amp! To be fair, I'll spend more time with it and see what I can tweek out of it. I'm thinking i'll have to go shopping for a stomp box or two to bring out that Marshall growl.... Right now though, I'm NOT too happy with this product.
OK, I returned the MA100C because it had serious issues and thought I would have better luck with just the head. I could not order the MA100w head because GC has stopped sending them out, so I ordered the 50w head, It came and the reverb did not work and the footswitch has a major delay when you step on it (very bad). Also, the crunch sound in OD and boosted OD just don't have that quality Marshall sound. I am using a M412A, but still should at least hear that familiar sound, but NO. Sending the work out was a very bad mistake. The quality has gone downhill. Stay clear of the MA series. I returned this one also, and got a JMD-1 50w. I'll let you know how that one turns out when I get it.These are in my price range, so if this one sucks, I will just get a refund and go with another brand 8-(
