Overview

In a nutshell, the Marshall all-valve, 4-channel JVM410H 100-watt tube head is the most versatile Marshall amplifier ever made. It also boasts more gain than any other Marshall to date--and that's really saying something.

Each of its 4 channels-Clean, Crunch, OD1 and OD2-are not only completely independent of each other, they all boast three Modes, all 12 of which are footswitchable and feature their own unique gain structure. It makes the JVM 4-channel effectively 12 Marshalls in one.

The JVM410H has studio-quality digital reverb with a level control for each channel. This is also footswitchable, as are the amp's two Master Volume controls and the Series/Parallel effects loop. Resonance and Presence are equipped with master controls.

Even though the head and combo both house 28 controls and eight LED switches on their front panels, they're incredibly simple to understand because of the extremely logical layout. Each of the four channels has the usual suspects when it comes to controls - Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble and Gain--accounting for 20 of the 28 controls right away. Take away the four reverb controls and you're only left with 4 Master controls--2 Master Volumes plus Resonance and Presence.

Add to this an ingenious footswitch (UK patent pending) and the fact all the amp's switching (channel/modes, Reverb, Master Volume selection, FX loop) can be done via MIDI and you're looking at an incredibly flexible amp! The 6-way footswitch boasts seven LEDs and memory, plus it connects to the amp via a regular guitar cable.

From the cleanest clean to the filthiest distortion ever found in a Marshall and all points in between, the JVM410H all-valve amp head will give you whatever tone you need right when you need it.

I've played electric guitar 13 years, and along the way have tried many, many amp heads, combos, etc. Nothing compares to this for versatility, or shall I say the combination of versatility and tone. My last amp was the TSL which I was quite happy with, previously it was the JCM900 and I also own or have owned combos. They aren't kidding when they say that each channel is unique - the clean one in "green" (least gain) mode has no mess or BG noise whatsoever. It almost sounds acoustic! The orange channel is comparable to most Marshall heads in the clean mode. On the other end, the amount of gain you can get from any version of the OD2 channel is disgusting and beautiful. You release the strings and it will shriek at you on whatever note you last touched. The best summary I can think of for this monster is that you take the best things from three Marshall lines, combine them, clean it up with new features, and ship it. It has the master volume feature from the Master Volume amps, the tube diagram of the JCM800 for that great "Marshall Roar" and liquid cleans, and the switchability of the TSL but with one more channel and three modes per channel. It's not four amps, it's not even 12 - with the master volume you have 24 options, and with the footswitch memory you can make it as flexible as you are creative. One of the best purchases I've ever made. This thing is SICK!

Hi I am writing a review of the Marshall JVM 410 H. My guitar is a Gibson Les Paul that sounds incredible. Well I walked into guintar center with my Les Paul thinking that this marshall was going to be incredible. I was very interested in it at the time and had researched the Marshall JVM 410 H. Well I plugged it into a Marshall 1960 Cab and turned it on. To tell you the truth, I was very disappointed. The clean channel was okay, as well as the crunch channel. But, the two overdrive channels, OD1 and OD2, were very bad. They lacked the explosive drive that I had expected. The bass drive wasn't there in all four channels, especially OD1 and OD2. I would not recomend this product to anyone who wants the explosive drive of a real metal styled amp. I ended up buying a Mesa Boogie Mark Five, which sounded way better and cost less money. I recommend trying a mesa boogie after you try out the Marshall JVM 410 H. The Mesa boogies have way better tone and have way more powerful sound. Please, try the Marshall JVM 410 before you buy it. You might change your mind. Don't believe all the propaganda about it. Thank you for your time, Zachary

Jim Marshall Thank You.

By Vman

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I purchased this amp from Guitar Center and got a sweet deal from their 4th of July Sale. I've been messing around with it for a few days now. Just jamming along, testing where my pedals will sound better;effects loop or front, dialing each OD to my taste, setting the footswitch. Now, I think it's time to give my opinon. I usually don't write reviews, but this one was worth it. Simple, go to your local guitar shop and crank it up. You'll be impressed with how high the gains are and how clean the "green" tone is. The clean tone is very impressive for a Marshall. Also try the different independent channels of at least 12. It will give you an idea to how versatile this amp is. You can get that plexi glass, brown tone, thrash metal, Steve Vai or Satch tone. Whatever tone you want this baby can dial it for you. I think I'm selling my Boss MT-2 and EQ since I don't need it anymore. I paired this beast up with a 1960A(4x12) cab. It's loud. Haven't got the chance to crank it up yet. A few things I've noticed. There is a buzz with some channels using the high gain. It's expected with high gain amps. Also, a few of the knobs have tiny turn imperfections. I know it is expensive. It's going to be money well spent. This amp will give you that tone which will make your hair on your back stand and grow. Each taste to ones own. Try it. If you like what hear. Grab it. You won't regret it.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I tried the JVM410H full stack in my local Guitar Center one day and I fell in love. The sound quality it had was expected because c'mon, its a Marshall. But wow. I didnt want to leave the store. I wanted to stay there all day and play on it. It had a very good crunch sound. I messed around with the controls a bit and you can indeed do what everyone has said you can do with this amp, and that is produce the sounds of every other Marshall amplifier. It's pretty much the Marshall Amplifier Encyclopedia. Even though the head itself is already nearly $2000, I think it is completely worth it.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

A new era of Marshall tone.It almost captures that awesome JCM800 sound perfect. But turn up the gain.Houston we have lift off.I've never hear that much gain from a marshall without a ditortion pedal.Plus it's programmable with the foot switch. It's like having 12 channels in one amp.granted all you need is just one good channel(like the JCM800)for your fondation. But hey! the rest of them on this rig come in pretty handy.I'm thinking of trading in my TSL100 for it.

A PURE BEAST THAT MUST BE UNLOCKED

By Wicktana

from Detroit, Michigan

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I gave this amp a 4.5 value simply because I think that they have everything marked up to hight. Having said that, this amp is a must have for any one-----ANY ONE, who can afford it. I don't care what kind of music you play this amp will give you the sound you desire. The thing I like about it: "I don't have to use so many foot pedals with it." There is no need for a distortion pedal because the amp has as much distortion as one needs. I guess I should say that I don't speak for the metal players, they made need more. As far as the classic rock, blues, crunch, clean, reverb, yes I said reverb, this amp has it all. I was never a Marshall person in the past, until I played thin one day at Guitar Center. The amp comes with a six button foot switch and I just stepped on one of the switches. All of a sudden I went from distortion to this Fender style of reverb. Man, it shocked the hell out of me. So much so that I bought the amp right on the spot. This amp is warm, gentle, and then it becomes a beast that has to be let out or you feel like it will hurt someone. Of course that is just a metaphore. If this is within you price range, or you can save the money, then buy this amp. It gives you a taste of the JSM800, and 900, there is much here to tweak with. Truly Stunning! Perfectly Outrageous! The Final High Gain Solution!!!!!

By tony essoe

from Laguna Niguel, California

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I never write reviews, but the blazing Marshall tones I found screaming back at me demanded that share the details of this remarkable amp. I have 8 Mesa/Boogies in my music room, 3 of which are Mark 4s, and a friend and I did an A/B comparison of every Boogie, back and forth against the JVM410H W/ 4-12 V30 loaded cab. I guess I wouldn't be writing this if the Marshall didn't blow Boogie out of the water, but much to our amazement the Marshall won every time, however I must say the clean tones do not matter as much as the dirty tones for my specific applications and were not scrutinized as closely as Overdrive 1 & Overdrive 2. The high gain tones especially raged beyond what I thought Marshall could do, and has now turned me into a Marshall fanatic. I have since bought 2 more JVM410H heads & 1960 Vintage cabs and have sold alot of now-unnecessary gear. I am glowing as hot as the burning tubes with TOTAL SATISFACTION beyond your 5 star limit.

Try this with NOS tubes

By A. Berg

from Albuquerque, N.M.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Thought this amp was just ok when I first got it. Nothing super special, but certainly a versatile amp. Purchased from G.C. in '09 with a 1960 AV cab. (Had the 1960 A cab first and thought it sounded really thin. Switched it out for the 1960 AV. Much better) Still wasn't really satisfied and decided to retube it and see if it helped. I put in 4 NOS Mullard EL 34's ( 1960's prodction) and a mixture of NOS RCA and Tungsram 12AX7's in the preamp section. This Amp is now incredible. Mind boggling difference. So , if you like it with stock tubes, NOS tubes will blow your mind. So all in all, it's a great Amp, but it is a bit costly to take it to its full potential.

My JVM410H

By Guitar Addict

from Austin, TX

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I can only tell you that any limitations in quality of tone or "sing" from this amp are limitations of the player. I've found that full, chimey cleans, srv bluesey break-up, brown tone to die for, and real molten metal are all super solid strengths of this rig. Get one if you are serious about playing the guitar. The sound of this amp helps me to take my playing to the next, and then the next level.... I do own amps that cost more, they are for sale. I'm keeping mine!

THIS AMP ROCKS!!!!!!!

By Fretmaster

from Chicago, IL.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp is the pinncale of all amps. It truly lives up to the Marshall name, and then some. With the four separate channels, you can get any kind of tone for any kind of music. I mean any kind of music from The Beatles to Metallica, from crystal cleans to super deep, heavy, chunky distortion, and ever kind of overdrive in between. the Crunch and OD1 Channels give all kinds of fluid overdrive and that classic Marshall "roar." I've played this amp many times at my local Guitar Center and plan on saving to buy it very soon!!!!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

By James Bauman

from New Jersey

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I honestly can't express how smart of a move it was for me to purchase this amplifier. There are 4 channels, and each channel has 3 colored modes, along with a reverb and FX option. The amount of options available is insane. I play it through an Orange 2X12 and a Fender American Standard Tele. The foot switch is also great, very easy to control and program your channels. This is definitely a must-buy. I learn new things about this amp every day and I'm always finding out more amazing things about it.

YEEEEAAAH BABY!!

By Ears R. McBlown

from Ft Lauderdale, Florida

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have owned this amp for 2 years now. it is everything everyone says it will be... and more. I live in a small apartment so I dont get to use it at volume too much, but when I bring it to Jams, I never gotta go over 7 or so on the power amp. the amp sounds crystal clear even cranked out( 2 1960 cabs.) the OD channels will blow you away as the preamp gain never needs to be over 6 or so...but of you want that super creamy sustain that Vai gets, you can dime it and lower the tone knob a bit on your guitar to easily get it. the real beauty is it has 2 similar OD channels so you can dial each in for rhythm or leads and use the footswitch. you really can pull any tone from this amp if you experiment with each channels settings. as for the buzz.....if you use a HIGH QUALITY guitar such as a prestige Ibanez, there is almost no buzz at all. if your guitars electronics are not sheilded properly or has cheap pickups it will be noisy, as with all super high gain amps. and your settings will determine that too. my cheaper guitars make noise but my high end IBz's not one bit. Use High quality cables too. the tubes in this baby really respond like tubes should when played loud, so get a hot plate too if you live in an apt. like me. All I can say is if you got the scratch, this amp is really a great choice, and it's a marshall too. so just looking at it makes you want to jam!!

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

he best Marshall head I've owned. I've had a JCM 800 and currently own a 2555 Jubilee, and some Fenders, Music Mans, and even a Vox, but this is by far my favorite amp head! Of course the dirty channels are phenominal, but what impresses me the most is the clean I can get out of this. My strat gets amazing clean tones for songs that I need clarity on

Marshall JVM 410H

By Evelyn Tian

from Fort Lee, NJ

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This amp is great !! The many channels are very useful and all sound great !! The clean is nice, but dont expect something similar to a fender. I mostly play metal so the overdrive channel is the one I use the most. It sounds great even at low volumes but when you crank it up a bit, it sounds even better. Even if you play blues or rock, this amp is very nice. I have many friends that come over just to try my amp and they don't all play metal. Of course this amp is a little pricy but if you can spend the money, it is worth it. You wont regret it. It is a little heavy compared to other marshall heads that I've owned but it hasn't inconvenienced me much so its fine with me.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have never heard such perfect tone and unlimited screaming gain!!! I will never use a dirt box again! Since I bought my first Marshall 410H 6 months ago, I have bought 3 more and sold every Mesa Boogie I had. I was brain washed by magazine reviewers that Boogie was the high gain way to go, WRONG!!! Nothing can touch the outrageous multitudes of individual tones at your command with the 410H. I am dead serious... BUY THIS AMP!!! There is nothing even slightly close to this ULTIMATE TONE!!!

The quest has ended; I found the amp I've been searching for. From single coils to active humbuckers, this amp will cover every sound you are searching for. You can get the meanest blues tones in the style of SRV or Chris Duarte from your Stratocaster. You can get the highly polished Duane Allman and Dickey Betts Les Paul melodic, mesmerizing tone. You can get metal madness via Dave Mustaine with ease. It's that versatile. You can dial the volume down for home use; or, you could play the Rose Bowl - your call. It's simply amazing - it sounds good. It's the one you've been looking for. The search is over.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM410H 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I added a 5mH choke and dis a controllable negative feedback mod...this really increases the tightness, the low-end, and the headroom of the amplifier (did other mods as well but these are the most noticeable).

I run a G-Major and a Rocktron Hush 2 in the effects loop and control it all with a Behringer FCB1010. This allows me to create a bank of presets for each of the 4 channels for each of the different modes...With tweaks of the EQ in the G-Major..It really is like having 24 different Marshall amplifier sounds.

Midi programming this head is stupid simple!

The effects loops can be assignable (on/off) and there is no tone degradation while using the loops.

I tried some pre-amp tube rolling and found the stock Marshall branded 12AX7's to actually be better than most of the recommended labels. Oh...and re-bias this thing...Marshall sends them out on the 'cold' side (mine was about 32mA)...Bringing it up to 37ma-40ma of current or 70mV-74mV (depending upon your method) really livens it up as well.
