Comments about Marshall JTM45 45W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this in the L.A. Guitar Center and they shipped it to my house (I dont live in California). Upon arrival it look amazing and then the real test was about to commence. I plugged the JTM 45 into my orange 2x12 cab and what i hear I could never unhear. This was the sound i have been chasing my whole life. Anywhere from 5 down on the volume knob you will have warm crystal clear tones no matter what guitar you plug in (yes the guitar makes a huge difference for this head) 6-10 on the volume knob introduces gain because of the tubes being pushed to the max. For recording purposes i keep it anywhere from 2 and under on the volume know because i use alot of pedals. This amp is the best amp iv ever owned for pedals. Getting back to the tone there is no muddiness, no harshness if theres too much treble turn the treble knob down.. same for bass and mid. Its the simplest yet best amp ever made for Rock/Alternative/Indie/Jazz/Blues. I would buy this amp again if it were cheaper. Also its build very well. Side note this is a LOUD 30 watts, I play with a band and my volume knob is never above 3. Another side note, you should definitely jump the first channel on the bass (low gain) inputs and the 2nd channel on the Treble (Hi gain input) and plug your guitar into the top left Treble (Hi Gain channel). Hope this helps because i had to learn about this amp by myself.

Comments about Marshall JTM45 45W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Been playing for over 40 years, both professional and semi; I normally use my Fender DRRI for cleans, but now it's a toss up between the DR and the Marshal. The marshal also has warmth and character, plus breaks up nicely with the right pedal.

      Best Purchase Ever

      By Keith P

Comments about Marshall JTM45 45W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I had heard much regarding valve-rectified amps. One would hardly notice until compared to solid-state rectifiers; they are worlds apart. I have played for nearly 50 years--used many vintage rigs--this JTM45 re-issue plays with anything! The Tone: a clean, warm sound cherished by many. To compare, the usually tinny sound from a Stratocaster bridge pickup has the warmth of the neck pickup. The tone becomes more underpinned as the volume increases--the ghost-harmonics as advertised are subtle but present. The configuration allows audiophiles to recapture vintage tone. The Volume: Don't be fooled by 30-Watts--the sound density is more than adequate for a small to medium-sized hall. Excellent sound density and stage spread. Plug it into a 100-Watt 1959 if you must. Needless to say, excellent volume in a light compact head. Fit and Finish: excellent quality construction; nothing cheap here. The head functions as designed--truly Marshall superior quality standards. Price: I needed to mention this because I ordered the head during the Memorial Day Sale. Kudos to Guitar Center for putting customer service over profit! Musicians Friend would not give me the sale price because the item was special order; GC did! Either the wait was 2 months but well worth it. Value: While some would merely say, "It's a Marshall". Whatever. I see these amplifiers only increasing in value; to the present term, I feel I received that for which I paid. Player satisfaction is key--and I receive much from it. I use a 1960BHW 4 x 12 cabinet to push it along. Very nice. I have heard the 1960ATV with Greenbacks is better--my ears tells me differently. At any rate--my purchase recommendation is high--don't be discouraged by the ship dates; get one while Marshall is producing them. Happy Playing--Keith
