Overview

The Marshall DSL15H 15W guitar amp head is a no-nonsense, mini-brute. It is identical to the DSL15C except it doesn't feature reverb. It is compact, making it easy easy for the musician on the go.

It's an all-tube, 15W head that delivers great tone in a compact "small box" design. Powered by two 6V6 power tubes, with four 12AX7s in the preamp, the DSL15H might be small, but its guts are as serious as its big brother, the DSL100H.

With footswitchable classic/ultra gain channels (footswitch supplied), deep switch to boost lower-end chunk, and on the back panel a pentode/triode switch for maximum flexibility (15W to 7.5W), the DSL15H perfectly combines performance, versatility and value for money.

Features
  • Power: 15W (tube)
  • Tubes: four 12AX7 (preamp); two 6V6 (power amp)
  • Half-power switch to 7.5W
  • Two footswitchable channels
  • Controls: Volume, gain (independent per channel); presence, bass, middle, treble, deep, toneshift (universal)
  • Dimensions: 19.6" x 9.5" x 9.2"
  • Weight: 22.5 lb.
  • Footswitch included

Completely blown away...

By Dave

from Canfield, OH

I've only had this for a couple of days, but I am seriously impressed with the tone of this amp. I bought this amp (after a boatload of comparisons) because I got tired of hauling around my '78 100w JMP Marshall and vintage greenback loaded 1960b only to be told to turn it down all nite to the point all of the tone was sucked out of it. Being kind of a gear snob, only playing vintage and Custom Shop Gibsons, I was more than a little leery of a $499.00 amp. After playing one repeatedly at GC, I decided to take the leap. Man am I glad I did. Sounds fantastic through my Orange 1x12, but completely blows me away through my 4x12 greenback cab and is definitely loud enough to gig with. Probably the best Marshall cleans out there (I love 6v6s) and the ultra gain channel rocks! My only issue is the gap between the two channels... that mild crunch is hard to obtain. I have had many boutique amps and vintage amps, you can not go wrong with this amp for the price if your into 80's rock type tones.

Awesome head

By Eric

from Buffalo, New York

I bought this head about a year ago when I was looking for a tube head but didn't wanna spend a ton of money. This head is amazing! It just a little fiddling with the setting to get the sound I wanted but I couldn't be happier. I would recommend this head to anyone. Amazing!

Marshall DSL15H

By Jack Faehl

from Lakeview Texas

I have had a few Marshall amps in the past however they were all solid state amps, except for an 8080 with a tube pre-amp. The valve state was nice but still it lacked that tube tone. This amp has the tone that was in my head for so long. The clean is marvelous I cant say enough about it, lots of volume and it breaks up nicely when the gain is turned up. I looked for a long time and found the right cab to match up with this head there were only two on internet and one was in Road Island at the Guitar Center there. The other was on EBAY starting bid at 500 dollars. The cab is a Marshall 1965A slant cab it was made back in the eighties and are quite rare to find. The cab has four ten inch speakers in it and the head sits very nice on it, a real good match. The tone that comes out of this cab is perfect with this head. Now the ultra gain channel is not the best, but I have a Boss ME 50 that takes care of that, I can get any sound that I want from this combination. I have a Blackstar HTIRH that I thought had a good tone, but now after playing this Marshall DSL15 watt head I will probably let the Blackstar go.

Great Little Amp

By Brandon Skinner

from Wilmington, DE

I bought this about a month ago as an in-home alternative to my 120 watt Peavey XXX. I am running through a 212 cab with Eminence Red Coats. I originally gave the Blackstar HT 20 a shot and that amp was just miserable to deal with. I never could find a tone I was happy with before I returned it. Within 15-20 minutes of playing around with the controls I had a very nice tone out of the DSL15, and its been great to play with since then. I can get almost any tone I need out of it from nice warm cleans, hard core distortion, to a great blues sounds. For those who equate wattage with volume and tone, don't be fooled. With my set-up, this little guy will get more than loud enough (with tone retension) to play small venues. My only gripe is the absence of an effects loop. I am not used to running my pedals up front and it has taken some tweeking to get them all sounding right. For the price though, I am really pleased, and would highly recommend you check it out.

DSL15h rules!

By 1327510

from San Diego

The Marshall DSL15H is a very awesome amp head. All my friends and family really dig this amp as well. This is the sound I have been looking for. From 60's to 2012 sound this amp can nail it all. The gain / lead channel has a lot of voicing / room. With the tone shift, deep switch and presence dial you can really get that sound your looking for. Then on the clean / crunch channel it sounds wicked. Getting sounds like THE WHO and AC/DC. And the gain doesn't just stop there. There is a video on you tube on this marshall dsl 15h from marshall channel. That video does not do this amp any justice! Go to your local guitar center and test drive it out, you won't be disappointed, if you play clean, blues, 60's rock, 70's rock, 80's metal, thrash metal, and even newer metal. But I'm not talking about that drop-D lame stuff. I'm just talking about the newer hi gain sound. This amp has a lot of sustain. I'll be doing a creamy bend and grab a bite of the sandwich and come back and still be screaming! I'm playing a 1961 Gibson sg reissue, with the 1957 stock pick-up's, the head is paired with a 1x12 create power block cab. You can hear every note! I would say this amp is more on the non forgiving side so you gotta play well when playing, but still has some forgiveness. Cons is that this amp not made in the uk, and the first day the amp would not switch from clean to lead channel. But has been working. Owned amp for one week now

Delivers what it is designed to do

By Paul M Basta

from Santa Monica, CA

Didn't give the beast 5 stars because of the lack of reverb - just an added expense if you want reverb. The price point of this amp is fair considering what it delivers: a clasic channel and an ultra channel to give you the choice between a clean, lots of headroom playground and a crunch channel that has so much dial in grit it will please any AC/DC fan. I bought this amp because I'm a fan of 6V6's and the advantage of playing clean at volume. The amp delivers what a Marshall amp is made for and at a price that seems to be taylored to guys like me - non-pro committed enthuiast with an occasional live gig here and there.
