Overview

The Marshall DSL-1C 1W tube guitar combo is part of Marshall’s 50th Anniversary celebration. Even though there were several popular Marshalls in the ‘90s, the JCM2000 DSL100 Dual Super Lead became a truly iconic tone of the decade. Critics hailed it as “the ultimate Marshall” as it straddled past and present so well. The DSL-1C’s dual footswitchable channels pay tonal tribute to that great amp. Featuring Classic Gain and Ultra Gain options with switches for Deep and Tone Shift for further sonic flexibility, just like the original. An output with speaker emulation, FX loop and Low Power (0.1W) switch add even more flexibility.

Not bad but not great.

By Richard Strong

This is a decent little amp. The high gain tones are actually pretty good but low to medium gain settings are pretty weak on the high gain channel. The clean channel is not prisine like a fender but it does have an airy depth to it with a very slight growl which I kind of liked. I think the biggest draw back to this amp is the speaker which is an 8" celstion, thers only so much tone you can get from a speaker this small. I upgraded the tubes to JJ's (ecc83s in the preamp and ecc82 in the power amp) and pluged it into a 2 12 cab the little amp came alive but the idea of being able to play while my wife sleeps in the next room went straight out the window. 1 watt is still pretty loud in tube land. All in all its a decent little amp. give it a tube upgrade and a bigger speakerand you should get some very satisfying results.
