Ehh...

By Rallyeo

from Albany, NY

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

Its not a bad cab.. I picked mine up about 3 years ago and play a mesa dc-5 head through it. I have also used the mesa with 4x12 with Vinatge 30's and it sounded way better. The G12T-75's that come with this cab are pretty low end (as in not good) for Celestions. I just find this cab to lack any kind of character at all. It's also very large for a 2x12 cab. It is a Marshall though, so the build quality is excellent, I may try throwing in some Vin 30's or greenbacks and see how it sounds, but I wouldn't really recommend buying this cab though, shop around.

Amazing sounding 2x12

By dystrophyian

from hartford city, IN

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

I have owned this cabinet for about 3 years and used it with many different amps. I have'nt stopped being amazed with how good this sounds for only 2 speakers. It is very loud and provides really rich tones for clean and lead sounds. Best cabinet for the money in my opinion.

Completely Worth It

By Jay

from Spartanburg, SC

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

My touring band broke up and I had no need or space for my 1960A cab anymore. I wanted something high quality that could still pack a punch if I needed it to but wasn't quite as large. The 1936 2x12 was it. I play a Marshall TSL 60 head through it, and I'm getting just the sound I want. This cab even made a Squire Champ 15 amp sound good. I couldn't believe it. I've recorded in the studio with it several times, and I use it every Sunday morning at church. I couldn't ask for anything better for the price.

Great for a working band

By Buzz

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

I've been playing classic rock since it was top 40 and this is a very easy cab to haul to shows. I play a JVM410 through it and it sounds outstanding. We play Trower, Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Stevie Ray, STP,etc. This cab sounds great for heavy classic rock.

Pure Marshall sound

By all 4 JC

from O-side, Cally!

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

For those of you who know that marshall sound, this cab has it in a small package. Great for highs and mids and killer for that trashy, thrashy, screaming, buzzy distorted solid state kind of nonsense. Sounds rad through a tube amp also. I gig with this because it really does everything and it's much easier to lug around than a couple of 4X12 cabs. Get it!

marshall 1936

By Eric13

from schdy, ny

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

i use this amp with a bugera 1990 and i think it achieves some nice raunchy tone. my cab is a few years old and i don't think anything changed other than the emblem on the left corner. build quality is great and it is quite heavy...not so much fun to lug around but not as bad as a 4 X 12 obviously. the gt12s it's loaded with i think are more suited for metal and are definitely not even close to what celestion has to offer. id love to try this thing with vintage 30s in it. it is also caster ready and it would have been nice if marshall included them with this price. overall i love the cab, it looks great and it's a true marshall. however, for the price new, i don't think it is worth it...i got mine at half this price in brand new condition so for me, it was a score...shop around, and consider replacing the speakers

Great workhorse

By Mark S.

from N. IL

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

Not a big fan of 75 watters but mine has replacement V30's in it and now my 4x12's usually stay at home... although I do use '79 4x12 w/65 watters (hard to beat). Too bad Marshall only puts 75's in these because they are very gig-friendly for those of us who hate hauling 4x12's around... too many years of that. Better quality than the MC212s but there's a reason for that. Like all Marshall cabs, too many plastic parts to crack, break, etc... but that's their choice to meet price point I'm sure.Recommended ! report card - C+

Nice Cab

By S

from PA

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

I own 2 of these cabinets and I like them very much. The only downside to me is the speakers. I replaced them with some older Celestion G12-65 speakers I had from another marshall 4x12. I couldn't be happier. The cab is a bit (1/4" roughly) smaller than a marshall full size head which is strange? The rubber feet on my DSL don't line up with the skid trays, but the different style feet on my Vintage Modern sit in much nicer. Not a big deal but I would expect more from such a renowned company. If you are into heavy music the speakers will most likely suit your needs/style but if you prefer more nuances in your tone I'd strongly suggest swapping speakers. Otherwise a nice classic styled cab.

Solved a lot of problems

By Charlie Phillips

from Jacksonville

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

I brought a 1936 from here about 10 years ago. I am 50+ and have a steady working band. This cabinet handles all my gigs. We do 50s' though 80's music covering most popular styles of the eras and today. It is not a boutique sound but a classic/modern sound. Cleans up nicely and rocks pure Marshall. This cab has been a work horse for me. It is expensive but has held up well. The tolex has been peeled and re-glued many times but keeps on trucking. At my age I can easily pick it up and tot it around. Now the exciting part. My main gigging amp is an Egnater Renegade 65. What a killer sound! I use to use a Marshall 410h but it sits at home alone now. I also use two eg 65 heads and run them into the one cabinet stereo inputs for special effects. The Marshall mic's up very easily. I use a Sennheiser evolution e906 Dynamic Guitar Amp Microphone (flat off center) and a 57 (off axis and off center) on it for the big shows and sound men love how smooth and consistent the sound is. I am selling my 1960s stacks and buying a new 1936 only because my current one is worn looking. ( I will recondition this one for backup) Final comment - No cabinet gives the versatility, sound and power compared to all other cabinets. Thanks for your time Prof C. Phillips

Incredible

By Gilgamesh

from TX

Comments about Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet:

Amazing tone with only two speakers! I plugged in an 5 Watt Epiphone tube amp and the volume blew me away. I am seriously considering buying it to go along with the amp (which is also amazing, especially for 5 watts!).
