  • Awesome stack for the price

As reviewed by Andrea Thomas on 1/16/2012

I got this stack about a month ago. Its a pretty good size. its about as tall as a Les Paul. nothing crazy but good enough for a small gig. i was a little worried when i ordered it because i heard good things and bad things about it. Honestly it could be one way or another for some people. This amp has AMAZING cleans. you could switch on your bridge humbucker and hit a E power chord and it wouldnt distort at all. Distortion is ok. nothing thats going to blow you away like the cleans but its decent. if you play heavier stuff your going to want to run a pedal through it. Alot of people say its weak too...its not. i have yet to try it fully maxed out but at at 5 it will vibrate the walls in a mid sized room. The effects are so so. The chorus sounds like it also has tremolo in it and the other effects arnt that impressive either. the reverb doesn't change the area of it just the presents. So if you have it on 10 it will sound like your playing in a stadium with it being very noticeable, on 2 it will still sound like your in a stadium just less noticeable. Either way though the reverb is a nice touch. so my advice, know what your buying before you buy this amp. if your looking for something to play crazy heavy metal right out of the box go with a peavey or a line 6. if your looking for beautiful cleans and rock type distortions go with this. you can always upgrade the head.

  • Great Amp for a hobbyist.

As reviewed by Paul Candia on 10/3/2011

I traded in some really old Crate combo amps for this and got the silver one. I am not going to come of like a salty guitar vet that knows it all so I here it goes. Reason for buying this brand? Marshall says it all, plus I always wanted one so this this the coolest amp to start off with. I bought it with the MG footcontroller as well and it gives you the vesatality to create your own sounds and to switch in between the 4 channels or program your own tones. What I like about it is that is simple to use and plus it has the built in effects such as Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Delay and Reverb. Like the title says, I am a hobbyist and this amp keeps it simple. I don't have any other effects plugged in, just the guitar. I was originally looking for the Dave Mustaine Megastack and couldn't find one. The megastack manual that you can download from Marshall has the settings that Dave uses, so I used those settings on my amp and it sounds great. So for the purpose of it being my hobby to play guitar and have fun with it, this amplifier is good to go. It gives you the clean and distorted sounds and provides many hours of musical enjoyment.

IT IS 95cm HIGH. It has 15 watts of power it is not micro at all. It has an amazing 4 channels and has this knobs from left to right: GAin bass middle treble reverb(pretty amazing too) volume fx master. If you are looking for a practice amp this is perfect for you you can never go bad with a marshall
