NEW REVIEW - little powerhouse.
I've used numerous combo and reg amps, and for the money this is the top of the line. I love the chorus and reverb, and being able to run a Shure SM58 through it is a real plus. It has plenty of power for solo entertaining, or for just practice. Kudos to Marshall for a super little powerhouse.

Couldn't Be Happier
This amp is a great acoustic amp. It brings out the quality of the guitar and has many little differences for the levels of the music. It is perfect for playing in any room that is not seating more than one thousand but it can cover that without problems. IT is also great for vocals and guitar at the same time because it allows you to play with both.

Excellent Choice!
I was given a gift card ($500) recently for GC and I couldn't decide if I wanted an electric guitar with an amp combo or an acoustic amp for my Martin D15 Custom Guitar. Not being a singer, but an harmonica player, I figured that I'd amp my Martin and get a Shure SM57 mic for my harp. Well, I am very happy with my choice. This amp from what friends who own Martins say really captures the Martin sound and is clear and projects the lows and highs with such clarity. They are amazed more than I.
I'm glad I live above a movie theater, cause this amp for 50 watts is LOUD. For me I am glad I did get this amp. I was interested in the FenderAcoustasonic 30 DSP Combo and Behringer Ultracoustic ACX900, but I wanted an amp that had less bells and whistles and just projects the original sound of my instruments. Even though the price is higher, I am not disappointed! Great Amp. I?m more confident in my playing and ability and I look forward to my first open?mic night.
If you?re like me and need to make a choice, for me, the choice is the Marshall AS50D.

Great Sound & Great Value
I've been shopping for an acoustic amp and decided today on the Marshall AS50D. I use a Line 6 Spider II for my electric guitar needs but have only owned one electric guitar amp that would do right by my Ovation, the Roland JC120.
The AS50D is not as fancy as it's 100 watt brother, but considering the cost differance between the two I can't see where you can go wrong with the 50 (unless you just actually have the need for 50 more watts).
The sound is bright and clear with no noticeable feedback. It can be cranked loud and not loose anything the way of quality. I really don't think you could go wrong with this amp for your acoustic needs.

I love this amp
I just got my AS50D via UPS today. Where do I start? I am playing a Taylor 114ce thru this amp and it sounds fantastic. The twin 8" speakers project well without distorting the natural sound of the guitar. Plenty of volume for a 50 watt amp. That being said, watts aren't everything. I have another marshall amp (mg100hdfx w/mg412a cab)and its a good half stack, don't get me wrong, however, if I had to choose between my 100 watt half stack and my new AS50D I would get rid of the stack in a heart beat. I'm talking about over-all quality comparitively. The AS50D amp has two channels with independent volume and high/low EQ. I have heard some criticism that there is no midle EQ...not really a big deal. I have had no trouble at all finding perfect balance in tone so take that with a grain of salt. In addition to the two jack inputs, there is a mic input on channel two that can be used simultaneously with the guitar...What an amazing feature. I can hardly verbalize how big of a problem this solves for the small-gig-solo-guy. I have been playing and singing thru this amp all day and it is amazing. Guitar and vocals blend very, very well. Even the effects are good. Just chorous and reverb, but what more do you need when playing acoustic? If you are an effects nut, no problem, there is an effects loop on board in the back so you can hook up whatever you think you need. Over all, this is a straight forward, easy-to-opperate amp. Sounds good, looks good, practical, versatile, cost effective. Unless you are going to be playing in a huge auditorium (and I do mean huge) 50 watts will do just fine, so don't bite the hype hook and get reeled into the 100 watt unless you really need it. Word to the wise. Awesome amp!

Quite happy with it.
I really have no significant complaints about this amp. I tried this one and the Ultrasound. The Ultrasound has a warm tone but is a bit buzzy sounding and had a bad vibration with anything more than a bare minimum of bass in the eq. This amp does color your sound a bit, more so through channel one (designed for piezo) than through channel two. The tonal coloring is nice though and minimal. The tweeter is a bit chimey for my tastes but is not bad overall. The quality is first rate and volume is adequate for my needs although I don't play professionally and don't know how the volume would be in various venues. I've played the Fender acoustisonic and the Acoustic AG30 and neither were as nice as the Marshall.

Best Acoustic Amp out there
This is a great amp. The sound reproduction is perfect with no distortion of your acoustic guitar. Add a little chorus or a little reverb. Doesn't change the natural sound of the guitar. Great amp.

wasent expecting to sound good but it sure does
PROS. great sound quality with my Taylor 310 CE, light, small and easy to carry, very user friendly, aux input, looks nice, effect loop, D.I. output, phantom power (not sure why you would run a condenser mike on a amp though)
Cons. the chorus is kind of lame (i think it should have a delay instead), when you hook up a ipod or music player they sound lousy.
when i got this amp i went to the music store to check out acoustic amps. the chord was already plugged in to the Marshall so i gave it a try with a Taylor 414ce that was at the store, i did not expect it to sound good. i hit my first chord and said wow, than i tried the other small amps. fender, fischman and Rolland, not impressed. than there was the Gnez Benz, wow weee!!! awesome but the price tag, i go back to the Marshall and still thought it was a rockin little amp, its didn't sound bland and boring like the rest. and if you guitar has a eq you can get killer high end out of it if you want, it also has nice smooth bass response and a all around nice well rounded sound.

Nice Full Sound
I bought this amp last Friday. I play an Ibanez Montage acoustic guitar with a pre amp and effects in the guitar. I also have a 1950 Harmony Arch Top that is mic'ed, So I did not need or want a lot of bells and whistles. I play small venues but most are out doors with other musicians. I just wanted something that had a nice rich full tone so I could finger pick etc with out getting the "electric tinny sound" like from a normal electric amp. I tried out several different amps in this price range and settled on this one. This amp really enhances the sound of both types of guitars I play. Not only is it full and rich it is a Marshall. How much better can it get?

Very Pleased!
After 3 months of shopping, finally decided on the Marshall AS50D for my '78 Ovation Balladeer. Very happy with the sound. Chorus is the best I've heard and that includes Fender, Behringer, Laney, and Acoustic. Very clear and loud, as 50 watts goes a long way with acoustic guitar. Great tweeter sounds more like hi-fi than in your face horn sound. Fit, finish, switches, pots, and knobs are all top notch. Recommended.
