A killer package that'll save you a C-note.

The 1987XL head:

All the fabulous tube tone of the original 1987X from the 1966 to 1969 era plus a true bypass series FX loop. 3 ECC83 tubes in the preamp and 2 EL34s in the power section dish out that delicious, nasty overdrive behind Hendrix, Townshend, and scores of other greats. 3-band EQ and presence controls provide all the tweakage necessary to get the most out of this classic screamer. 50W. 26"W x 8"H x 10"D. 34 lbs.

The 1960TV cab:

This classic cab has an angled front; 4 - 12" Greenback speakers; and a warmer, thicker sound than the 1960A. The midrange is well-defined and a more rounded high-end sparkles without being overly bright. The 25W Greenbacks are less in your face than the 75W Celestions in the 1960A. It has reissue original grille cloth and is 3" taller than standard 4x12 cabs. Handles 100W. 29-3/5"W x 35-1/2"H x 14-4/5"D.

  • WOW!

As reviewed by rocker on 12/30/2010

well after owning a jcm800 for a few years i decided to try this one out and i have to say it plays much better than my jcm800. The different tones you can get amaze me and to top it off harmonics sing endlessly! if you're looking for a clean sound.. this is the amp. if you want some classic fuzz this is the amp. if you want a powerful overdrive..... this is the AMP! the best part as it doesnt take away from my gibson les paul traditional's tone either. THIS IS A GREAT AMP. WOW!

  • WOW!!!!

As reviewed by John Manson on 6/17/2010

Just got this amp home, and my title says it all. I went from playing classic zeppelin songs to clean robert johnson songs. This amp, when heavily distorted, does not take away from from the tone of my lp. the harmonics sound like beautiful sirens that ring for what seems like hours. And this thing is loud!!!! I cranked it up to only about halfway, and i had the police showing up at my door *not really*. I cant wait to take this to my next gig.
