Overview

Part of Mark Bass' New York Series of bass speaker cabinets, this little powerhouse is the perfect extension for either the Mini CMD 151P combo or the CMD 151P Jeff Berlin combo. It's also a great lightweight option for combining with any 500W Markbass amp.

This Markbass New York speaker series is named after the world's most famous city, where bassists often lug their rigs by subway or taxi to get to gigs. Because of this issue, Markbass set out to create a combo amp that had the power, but not the bulkiness of a regular bass combo. The end result speaks for itself. The sound of this bass speaker cabinet is smooth and warm, with sweet full range and a deep tone that extends down to 40Hz.

The Markbass New York 151 features one 15" speaker and a piezo tweeter with 400W of power handling.

Markbass NY 151 Cabinet

By Ken Whitcomb

from Palominas, AZ

Comments about Markbass New York 151 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

As bass players get older they want the equipment to get lighter. This cabinet is the ultimate combination of light weight and sound. I brought this in to our gig this weekedn and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. This was a loud music place and in the past I used to bring an additional 15 cab along with my 4X10 just to get it up to the venue. I plugged in and did not play a note on it until we started the first song. ALL my bandmates turned to me with an incredulous look on their faces when they hear the full bodied sound emanating from a unit so light and small. This will be the one they bury me with. The sound was comparable to the 4X10 cabinet that I was using only more clear and precise. I punched through the mix like never before. I recommend this product to anyone who plays bass and has to move his gear in and out of venues.

Great Sound & Better Weight

By Jim C.

from Bellingham, WA

Comments about Markbass New York 151 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

After lugging around two different SVT rigs, on the road for 4 years and at home, and a 4.5XL Hartke Cab 104lbs, This, coupled with the Markbass CMD102P, My back is saved, and the sound does not suffer. This setup is the cleanest, tightest,& lightest. I also use a Sansamp Tech21 preamp and a Markbass compressore. I can walk into a gig with my bass on my back, a bag over one shoulder, and my amp & cab in each hand. I'm Lovin It,

Comments about Markbass New York 151 Bass Speaker Cabinet:

I started playing bass a few years ago with an Ibanez SR706 and the Markbass 121h. It is a nice setup, but I was never really impressed with my open B string and wasn't happy that a guitar with a 30 watt amp turned 1/3rd up and a keyboard could make me irrelevant. It didn't help that the venue is 8k square feet. Spending time fine tuning every knob couldn't get me out of that hole even with 300 watts at my disposal. In the end I was limited by the muddy distortion from the 12 inch.

I looked at many reviews and decided it was worth the higher price for the New York series. When I plugged it in to my amp, all the specs, design and the change to 500 watts came to play to bring out the full capacity of the amp and speakers. Now all notes of my bass are beautifully rendered. Now the only thing causing distortion is the acoustics of my house. Before I could only turn up my combo to a little past half at 300 watts. Now I have perfect clarity at 83% of 500 watts. Now I smile big when I play and love every moment even at very low volume. The only thing keeping me from 100% is fear.

I now understand why there is such a difference. Each set of speakers are rated at 400 watts. With 500 split to 250 each, they are well within their working range even at full volume.

Now I am fully in love with the Markbass brand.
