I've been jamin on the SWR SM400 with 6-10 ampeg for quite a few years and decided it was time for a change. I went on-line and found a lot of intresting reviews on bass amp heads and the MarkBass was brought up more over top name brands for: Performance, weight, ease of use, and price. That was enough to sell me so I went to the local Guitar Center where they had the MarkBass III. I bought it without even trying it out. I giged that night and was just plain in awe with the amount of sound that came out of my speakers. I play a Modulus fb5 Flea. That little amp is so cool. All the reviews were not kidding. Its all that and more. Ive been jamin the bass for over 40 years and now my sound actually is heard! I gess my time is now and its about time! Great quality. After the gig I wrap it up in a nice thick towel and put the little 6 pound baby in a nap sack along with my chords and away i go. 600 watts is a lot of snot. I use a fraction of it and its there if I need it. Just way cool! The only negative thing is the sale should include the optional "ears" for mounting the unit in a rack case.

My MBIII head went out after one year, during a gig. Thankful I had a backup with me. I'm not irritated that it went out, I'm irritated cause I've been without my head for over a month now. It was under warranty so I had to ship it to a designated address for repair. It takes 2-4 weeks before a tech will even look at it. You'll have to pay shipping. The equipment sounds and performs awesome but should it go out you're gonna be without for a while. I'm still without my MB setup and I am not happy. This rig cost me over $1,200 total and I can't even use it at the time. Had I known this I'd have gone with something else.

Mini power-house

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:

I've been using this little guy with my 450-watt crate cabinet thats a little old school, but once I plugged in the Mark III it gave my old cabinet a complete new sound. The VPF and VLE give you a wide range of tones and the 4 band EQ give you unmatched power and performance. A must have for any serious bass player.

small package, big sound

By steve

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:

I jsut bought this head, literally today. I brought it home and plugged it in to my 1 month old Mark Bass 2x10 cab and began shaking everything in the room. Then I turned down the bass a bit... Seriously though, this amp rocks. I own three Warwicks, 2 four strings and a five string and all of them sound awesome through this rig. The low B on the five is as strong as my big rig (SVT3 pro/ Kustom 8x10). I tried an Eden WTX500 through my Mark Bass cab. It sounded good and was plenty loud but it did not have the variability of tone that I was looking for. THe Mark hs the standard 4 band eq, but the extra little tweaks you get from the VLE and VPF controls are great. The Mark Bass little mark 3 is the sweeeeetness. I am very happy with this amp. Good tone, good power, small size. I highly recommend it.

Time & road tested.

By Mike

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:

Well, 3 years into my "Little Markbass" head, the dual 10" cab (This is my main bass rig, but got other Markbass cabs, but focusing on my main rig). Light weight, GREAT line out to feed any frontend system, reliable (AS NEVER EVEN A GITCH OF ANY TYPE) and the sound/tone, FRICKING AMAZING for just over $1k! If your a working bassist out actually working your gear, take a GOOD LOOK at this Markbass gear! I don't even have the head in a rack, LITERALLY it's set on top of the cab (At times multiple cabs). It's carried in one of those cheap $20 bags, along with my pedal ME50B(AWESOME TUNER & can have setup for a solo if & when needed, NOT used for any type of tone or anything even remotely like that) and my wireless riggings (In-ear & my bass). Before you go out & spend a bunch of $, take a GOOD LONG look at this Markbass gear! And if your a gigging bassist, this Markbass gear is a "MUST SEE". If your playing anything that you ever thing "Oh man, I don't feel like carrying this", lol, your going to LOVE Marckbass. LITERALLY, I carry my 2x10 cab, my gig bag over my shoulder and if in a real hurry, both my Warwicks at the SAME TIME! MAKING JUST A SINGLE TRIP with my personal rig! But even some outdoor openers for bigger setups, I literally use only my 2x10cab, pipe just a tad into the monitors & everyone behind the mains is just as happy as people catching the mains. Again, 3 years tested, NO rackmount (I'm NOT KIDDING! Literally sitting the head on top of my cab). But I do hear people either fall in love with the tone or hate it right off the bat. I was wanting to move away for my SVT rig (Just to heavy for me anymore). As soon as I heard the Markbass, I fell in love. Picked it up to check the weight, I almost lost my nut right there!LOL. Just check it out! It's the ONLY way to go IMO! Studio work? TRY THE PREs! Impressive to say the least, but Im still a direct in kind of dude for recording.

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:

The Little Mark III is small, lightweight and powerful enough to drive two 8 ohm cabs, which allows me the flexibility to perform is small to medium clubs and also enough power for some outdoor venues as well. I have owned a mini 121 CMD and decided ti purchase the Mark III to expand the flexibility of my speaker cabs. The product has never failed to impress no matter the size of the venue and is reliable, produces an incredible range of tones. I would recommend this product to anyone.

I loved this bass amp until it started cutting out and then gave up the ghost in less than 3 years with light use. Research repair issues on the internet before purchasing. Mine transformer went out. Need to replace mother board. $350 dollars to repair. Repairs did not last very long. As much as I loved the sound and portability of this amp. I will never buy another one.

      Great value, Great Product!

      By Jerry

      from St. Petersburg, FL

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:

I've been playing bass for many years and have owned a variety of amps and basses. Most of my current playing now is to jam with friends, a few small gigs, and twice a week in a large church. I have an American Std Fender J-Bass and have tried many amps to get not only a vintage sound but also a modern sound if needed. This amp does that and more! I usually play with tone controls flat and have a wide range of sound with the VPF and VLE controls. It does old school and it does modern. If you want the tone, it's in there, you just need to find it. I was honestly considering a preamp/power amp combo until I tried this amp. My main cab is a 2x10 - great tone and more than enough power -- if the venue is too large it can run thru a board with ease.

      you need this

      By jeff frederick

      from commiskey, IN

Comments about Markbass Little Mark III Bass Amp Head:

I bought the little mark III on friday and had it on stage saturday. Other then playing it at the GC in Terra Haute IN, I had no previous hands on with the amp. I asked our drummer and lead player to listen close and tell me what they thought, what tweaking it needed, to loud, to soft, and so on. Coupled with my music man Sterling, I had an insane tone within two songs. Ease of operation, power with tons of head room, easy on the back as well. I was driving some drop d tuning strong enough to make a stale beer raise a head, and with an attack on the strings change, It got so funky you could taste it. If I have any initial complaints, it would be that it doesn't come with a rack mount kit, and the kit is an additional $30.00, which wasn't in stock by the way. Our lead player said it looks like a DeWalt tool because of the color. I told him it's a lot like me, a power tool. If you've been on your way to building the perfect rig, give this lil monster a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
