Overview

The CMD JB Players School combo, named after Jeff Berlin's great Music School, is a great choice for students.

Markbass knows how important it is for students to practice and play with a good professional sound, as well as to have a compact, light and portable combo. This combo is the smart choice to satisfy all of these requests. It's inexpensive, it features the same quality standard and the same quality control tests applied to all Markbass products by their technicians during production.

Jeff says, "The CMD JB Players School combo combines Markbass' usual great tone with a high quality amp cabinet that is affordable. I am only insterested in an amp if it has good tone built into it. This amp has it! I can practice with this amp and I can gig with it as well."

The CMD JB Players School combo has a highly-portable size, and it weighs only 34.61 lbs. Its sound is professional, and like all Markbass rigs, getting the right sound is as simple as setting the amp flat, plugging in, and turning up the volume. EQ only needs to be used when compensating for unusual venue acoustics. Both student and professional users deserve a great professional sound, and this combo is the choice!

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

I tried several amplifier combos for playing with small groups and found the other amps in this price range disappointing. This amp has plenty of head room and power, is light and fairly compact and sounds great. I'm very impressed with this amp and will be buying more Mark Bass products down the line. The power cable plug slot is the only thing I don't care for on this model, but it's really not a big deal. Try this amp out before you make any other decision!

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

I use this for shows, love the sound and its so much easier to tote around than the other amps I have had. over all I love it!
the two downside are not that big a deal, 1) the back panel for power/line-out/etc is in an awkward spot, on the underside of a cutout at the bottom rear, you have to tip it onto its face/grill to see what you are doing to hook up. 2) although its rated for 200W output, you only get 100W, you have to get a separate 8ohm cab to get the full 200W. without the second cab, its still very capable, very loud for a 100W, and hooked through a board/PA sounds very nice.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

Had a bad luck with Ampeg BA115 for couple of years. This time I wanted to switch to different brand. Compared 15 inch bass amps from GK, Fender Rumble and Markbass. I am sold for this one for its excellent deep bass, eventhough I need an amp with aux input.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

I was skeptical but after ordering, receiving, and trying to load a competitor's 70 pound, 200 watt, behemoth, I said "enough" and drove to Guitar Center for something I could actually carry, that sounded good, and didn't promote hernias among bass players. This is a great little amp. I'm using it with my Ibanez fretless and Dean Pace electric upright. I play mostly jazz with many different musicians. Comments are all the same: WOW...I can't believe the sound from that thing. It's relatively (it ain't cheap) inexpensive but it's worth it. Try it and buy it. First time you have to lift it over the bumper and tailgate, you'll be in love. Love gets deeper with every note. Break a leg.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

Markbass hits another home run with this bass amp. If you love Markbass products, then this amp will not disappoint. If you are not familiar with MB amps, then take a few moments to check one out in person. I'm completely sold on the quality, tones and weight of these amps.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

first of all I despise combos, but I had no choice. So it's the markbass vs the new fender rumble, vs the gk mb115 combo. throw the gk out right away no matter how good it did or didn't sound because of it's lack of versatility. the GK lacks the capability of adding an extension speaker. There's only contour on/off and no degree af choices and NO EFFECTS LOOP.The new fender rumble almost had it all but the versatility of the markbass won out. The rumble had a nice modern tone and a nice vintage tone but the markbass could give an even bigger tone. both combos allow for an extension speaker in order to get the amps at 4 ohms and full power. The winning points for the markbass are tone, portability (all have that},and versitility! Even though the warranty may be voided I just had to slide that 250 blackline head out of its cradle. Surprize! No lid! No problem as I had a casing made of 1" mdf that holds the head perfectly. my drummer at church listens to me thru his own headset setup and of all the amps I've played the blackline 250 gives cleanest signal to him. Our churches pf 500 head cant touch it. Not only is the di better but the tone settings are much easier to navigate when setting up your tone. The pf 500 cant fill out the sound spectrum. Maybe I have it mismatched to the the 4 ohm svt 410 but the blackline 250 sounds way bigger than the pf 500. I was suprised that there was enough headroom from the 250 but our band and the choir at full tilt was no problem for the blackline 250. So when I go out I'll take the combo {as seperates of course} and in bigger vinues I use the 15 and the new fender rumble 112 cab and the sound is suprisingly full and not drowned out by my group of 5 sngers, 2 guitars, keys, and a powerful drummer. The 4 band eq is close to perfect and the vle {presence} and vpf {shape} really set this eq setup apart. While GK's rb and mb heads have presence and contour knobs {great} but its not as warm as the markbass. I still love GK but it may be in backup mode in the future, of course to go up to the 500 watt lm iii will take some saving and GK's cabs to my taste are still preferred but when it comes to amplification, right now its markbass for me. And no preamp tubes necessary, The low mid, vle and vpf get the job done. PS, to perfct this i did replace the 200 watt rms driver with a 350 watt that has a 96 spl and no no problem with a 350 watt amp.

      Punchy not Boomy

      By Jaime Jimenez

      from Texas

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

Very punchy amp, not boomy (although you can make it boomy if you so desire but def not what I like as a bassist). Also has a nice growl on the low end. Lets your bass sing. Some have stated that the clarity isn't quite there for soloing and slapping but I find the oposite to be true. Althought it may not be quite as good as if it had a tweeter, it def is very clear and has a extremley good clarity for a 15. All I know is that I was in love when I first plugged in and I know you will be too. If you're looking for something that is light, compact, can be used as a practice amp at home and as a stand alone unit for small to medium gigs and for larger gigs with PA backup (i did that the very first day I got it and it shined, soundman even had to back it off some so they could have better control), then look no further because this does all that. The only negative I can see is that it has no Headphone out (which is one of the reasons for a 4 star review, that and I've only had it a few weeks so I can't speak on longevity) but you could def run the DI output into a headphone amp of some sort and have that headphone ability. Anyway, just buy it already because if you got the the end o.f this lengthy review, you already made your mind up, just do it

      Outstanding

      By Ellis McCormick

      from Texas

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

I was honestly kind of nervous buying this amp I knew mark bass to be very expensive and hoping this wasn't some cheap budget amp. I was totally wrong. This amp rocks. It can handle any situation. The volume is perfect amount for playing at church. The two effects are also great and as the ad says it sounds perfect with the tone flat. Although the sound is great what is more amazing is the weight. The Ampeg version of this amp will weigh 70 lbs while this one is only 30. Easily carried with one hand. Perfect for a gigging musician playing medium venues and practice.

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

This is a light, great sounding practice amp. Extremely pleased with it. It so quiet, you don't even know it's on until you start playing. Ad is exactly right that you can set the EQ flat and it sounds great. No complaints what-so-ever. It has a direct-out so you can use it for gigs no problem. Awesome rig. Awesome sound. No problems.

      Players school bass amp [200w x 15"]

      By Albert Simballa

      from Albuquerque, New Mexico

Comments about Markbass CMD JB Players School 200W 1x15 Bass Combo Amp:

In all honesty I expected less of an amp. As the other reviews said, it would do wonders to have it connected to an extension cabinet (with 2 10" would be great). As it is, I still love it. The bottom end is monstrous but controllable. For the gigs I play it is more than adequate. I am thrilled that I bought it and cannot express my 'joy' at catching it on sale. It is a strong bottom end bass amp that is capable of producing 'thunder' if you want. It is a bit too muddy to do solo type work but you could. I am glad I have it and look forward to buying the extension cabinet. On sale, this was one hell of a good deal!! Thanks GC and MB!!
