Overview

The Markbass CMD 102P is a tilt-back bass combo amplifier that has a built-in Little Mark II solid state preamp to give you more power. To help shape your sound, the CMD 102P bass amp gives you a 4-band EQ, as well as VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) filters for control.

The Markbass CMD 102P amp's I/O includes an input that can handle both passive and active basses, and extra XLR balanced input for double bass pickups, Neutrik Speakon Combo out jacks for use with 1/4" or Speakon speaker cables, a tuner out jack for sending unbalanced signals to a tuner, amp, or other recording equipment, and Send and Return Effect jacks to ensure your main signal continues even if something dies in your effects chain. This versatile bass combo has an angled cabinet so that you can use it as a floor model or in the more traditional vertical position. Either way, you're going to get a warm, natural sound from the 2 B&C 10" speakers and the piezo tweeter. And if you add an external cab via the outputs, the CMD 102P combo amp will give you enough sound to fill a large venue with headroom to spare.

This is the perfect bass amp. It gives me more power and sound then I'll ever need. The last Bass Amp I'll ever have to buy too. The slanted back is perfect when you want your deep bass sounds to resonate over the band. Never have to lift it on a stand like others. Luckily Mark Basses are SOOO light weight. You'll NEVER break your back over these. My backpack weighs more than this thing. I took this to a Huge Mardi Gras I had to perform at, and the sound went over the entire crowd. I was amazed, it was also the first time I was ever told to turn down the volume. Hardly any haze comes out, and I don't ever feel like it's not enough. Plus practice you can make extremely quite, so bugging your neighbors won't happen. But when you want the walls to literally rumble, this Amp will do that with half the power. I can't say the price is perfect, but any Mark Bass is an excellent buy. I'm stickin' to Mark Bass products from now on.

Very untrustworthy on gigs...If you are a working musician do not buy this amp....If you sit at home and dont really touch your amp then this is the amp to have..My amp has been serviced 4 times in 2 yrs and it cost $20 to send it each time and you will not have it back for 3/4 weeks. Amp has to be sent to California under warranty..The amp crashed out on its 2nd gig and has only been used about 20 times in 2 yrs and went out 5 times..You will need a backup amp on your gig at all times if you carry this amp..Customer service doe not care...I was really respectful with the first email but after no response you can only put up with so much before letting people know...Stay Away from this amp if you are a working musician...

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

This amp is the best bass amp I have ever owned. It was pricey, but worth every penny. I used to use Hartke amp head (HA5500) and a 410 cab. Way too heavy. I realized I don't need so much volume as I also go through a PA when playing live. I wanted a great combo amp and the CMD 102P was the best sounding amp I found. Played it at my first show last night. Love the Post button on the back, PA EQ was flat and I had that great sound!

I matched it up with the Traveler 102P to have 4-10inch speakers should I need the volume.

I will never buy another amp again!

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

Great sound, after you fight with the controls for a while, but unreliable. I play regularly and replaced an SVT Rig I couldn't deal with carrying anymore. This amp is light, and when dialed in sounds amazing and power galore. My issue is its the only amp I have, and it failed on me while on stage. I baby the amp, have the cover for it, and take good care of it. Now I have to ship it to VST in Califonia (Markbass service center). They tell me it will take at least two weeks to fix and I have to foot the bill for shipping it. For a grand I would expect better service.

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

This amp is incredible. I bought it on August 8th and used it live in a festival on August 12th.
Man, I got to tell ya, the sound is incredible! Granted I use in ear monitors and play primarily through a Sans Amp and I use an amp to feel some air and additional EQ, but at one point I took one ear out and listened to the amp onstage and it was awesome. good lows on my 5 string basses, punchy mids and crisp highs. and it was plenty of volume with room to spare. Definitely but this amp, it won't let you down.

Bad Gain Structure, Good for a live starter amp

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

The biggest problem with this amp is the gain structure. If you have a bass that has a strong signal, or active pickups, don't buy this amp(My Musicman Stingray Bass for example). The amp will clip constantly with the gain knob nearly off. And the clipping sound it makes is not pretty. It's not a distortion, more like a digital click. Good luck trying to get a clean bass sound. If your bass has a weak signal (My old P-bass for example) you may be OK with the gain section. Otherwise, if you want to get any use out of the gain adjustment you need to turn down your bass, which as we all have experienced effects the sound of your bass. When recording (I have a professional Studio) I usually like to record direct and Mic the amp. I would never use the sound that comes out of this amp unless the client insisted.
It does get pretty loud, but the sound quality deteriorates. This would be a good amp for a beginner, rehearsals, or someone playing in small Bars.
Just my opinions, hope it's helpful.
      Sorry Markbass, not a fan.

      Best bass amp ever!

      By Kenneth

      from Hegins, PA

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

I am a retired music teacher. I've been playing bass for over 40 years through Ampeg, Acoustic, GK, Peavey, and a few others in rock and swing bands. I tried this amp at Guitar Center and read all the reviews. I've been using it with a 10 piece rock band and am completely satisfied with the sound. It is what everyone says it is. The sound is clean and uncolored. The two 10s add clarity without that boominess you can get with a larger speaker. It has plenty of power to handle most venues. This is by far the best amp I have ever used. Yes, it's expensive, but the resulting sound is worth every penny. By the way, it fits easily in the trunk of your car and doesn't break your back.

      Another 5 stars!

      By Kevin Sullivan

      from Crystal Lake, IL

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

It's really no wonder this amp wins awards. At 45 or so pounds I can carry it in one hand and my bass in the other and take them both right out to my car in one trip. With the punch it has and tonal versatility, one trip is all I need. Can it be overpowered on it's own by some fancy Marshall or fender amps, probably. In my research I have found that many others buy the 1x15 extension cab and that takes care of that problem by just moving more air. The best thing though has to be the tone. I built a bass with a EMG DC (Like what Claypool uses) and it sounded nice through my Ampeg BA115 but it really came alive when I plugged into this. It was a completely different bass. All of my basses sounded better. I have two other customs; one with a TV Jones Thundertron II and another with a Seymour Duncan BassLine Alnico 5 string, both 36 in scale lengths and they also changed for the better.

      Cant Wait

      By Darrell

Comments about Markbass CMD 102P 300/500W 2x10 Tilt-Back Bass Combo Amp:

Yes it's true, I cant wait, though I know I have to. Went to a Saints game with my lady and afterwards we walked into G C in N O. She'd been before but was my 1st time in any G C. She went into the percussion dream world and I could not help but notice the huge Mark Bass display that seemed to know me. I've been playing a good 50 years and started trying this little combo out."AMAZING" just by itself, then added the 2x10 Traveler... thought I died and was in Bass Amp Heaven...The harmonic clarity along with the db strength with every note from the open B to the double octave G was incredibly flawless. Funds being tight at the time,I chose to walk out with that rig on my dream list. Now I have the Mark Bass 2x10 Traveler and am almost ready '$' wise to purchase the CMD102P... Phenominal "Cant Wait".!!
