  • Awesome head!

As reviewed by IIWAG bassist on 6/9/2010

Luckily, I was able to get a GREAT deal on this head used at GC, because it is a bit pricey. But WOW,this head is great! I'm using it was the Mesa Powerhouse 2x12 cab and it sounds amazing! It's very boomy which for me is perfect. There is so much stuff you can do to EQ it for your own way, so for that reason(and the fact it sounds great for me, I reccomend this to any bassist who wants a powerful, great sounding head!

As reviewed by Mike on 5/26/2008

Incredible Amp! This thing gives me the sound I have been desperately looking for. Plenty of volume and headroom while weighing only around 7 pounds. The EQ on this amp is simple but very powerful and the extra mid controls are amazing. Since there are no Cons for this amp I will list the Pros: 1.Power 2.Weight 3.Mids control 4.multiple output connectors 5.Well built. Well worth the price.

  • Everything I needed and more!

As reviewed by James Matthews on 2/16/2009

The Markbass SD800 is the head of the future. Its simplistic approach with tone control makes it incredibly user friendly. I often just leave my eq flat and make slight adjustments to the MidHigh/MidLow boosters as needed before a song. This amp will play true to what you and your bass naturally sound like. It will not muddy or cover up your playing at all, and it will allow you to show every bit of soul you put into your playing. The VLE and VPF filters, however, are a wonderful addition that will allow you to add some texture to your tone and will create some interesting effects on your sound. The best thing about this amp though, must be the fact that it ways only 7lbs. At this weight, I often just throw the amp in my backpack and forget about it. There are only two downsides to this amp that should be standars: a headphone jack and a mute switch. The mute switch is no problem for me because my cables have kill-switches, however, the lack of a headphone jack is a let down. Even with these 'missing' features, this head is still a wonderful example of how heads should play and sound: simple, natural, and full of bassy goodness. Three words: Get this amp!
