  • How the VLE really works, etc.

    The previous reviews are all correct in my opinion, I just want to expand on the VLE function a little more as it's my favorite part of the amp. Basically, the more you crank this knob, the farther back in time you go. Crank it hard to get a Sabbath late 60s super low thud, or simply add a little to basically de-modernize your sound. It's a very cool function I haven't seen on any other amp. The other great feature about the amp is it's weight. It's the supermodel of bass amps, you can pick it up with one finger and a thumb. How they get 1200 watts out of a feather weight amp defies nature. Lastly I can tell you I have a rental company and nothing gets abused more than rental gear. This head has yet to go to the repair shop and has been abused for 2 years now. What ends up in our shop most which our tech won't even work on are Ampeg SVT 3s and 4s. In my opinion, this head is a much better choice at every level.

  • Best of the Best

    I finally found a bass head dependable and tight. I started with the MB II and found myself pushing it to the max to be heard over 2 guitars and a drummer for 2 years. Now they want me to turn down. Loud or not this head is clean and flexable. I have been using the head for a month now with a four 10 cab and a 18 cab. The head is set to maybe 3 or 4 on a 10 scale for volume. If I had to suggest anything it would be built in compression.

  • Look no more...

    I was one of the first to buy this amp when it was released. It is super lightweight and has all the power you could ever need for any band or stage...(unless you are suffereing from hearing loss or your bandmates are insane) I play rock and funk music mostly, if anything, the head is too loud and can't be pushed properly in most venues. It's great for outdoor gigs and backline. I also use the Markbass 2x10 (front ported) and the 1x15 (rear-ported) cabs with this head. Lately, I have only been using the 2x10. Don't really need the 1x15 for most clubs. It's too much. Especially when working with a front end system. Anyway...this is one kick-ass head. The tone and headroom are great! The amp reacts very quickly too. The semi-parametric mid range section is helpful in dialing in your tone also. I sort of wish the center frequency for the low end was attenuated at 60Hz as opposed to 40Hz for tighter, more musical bottom end. The high end can get a little harsh also, seeing as it is attenuated at 10kHz. No worries though...I simply dial out the treble almost completely and use my high-mid for my high end, selected at about 4 kHz. Try this amp at a gig. You won't be disapointed. This head is light, loud, simple and reliable.
