    I took a chance and purchased the TA 500 with a Compressor Compression pedal because I get artist pricing on Markbass equipment. I wanted to go away from Ampeg SVT equipment that everyone seems to be using nowadays. Let me tell you this head is great. I DI straight through it and get a very warm punchy tone, along the lines of a Death Cab For Cutie bass tone. For the style of music I play it is perfect, very organic and true. You can get it dirtier if you would like with the VPF and VLE knobs plus all of your mid sweeps, it's a very versatile unit. I really like it teamed up with the compression pedal as well, can really make it punchy when I want. Both the head and pedal are tubed so when you bring up the gain it sounds wonderful.
