  • Little Mark 800

As reviewed by Billy Reed on 8/26/2011

Almost the perfect amp ! Clean, punchy & very true sounding. I use it with the Markbass 104HF cabinet and it is a perfect match -no surprise there ! Massive low end without being too fluffy & very balanced mids & highs. The fact that it is very small& light is a huge asset. It sounds great with my Ric, P-bass, Hofner & especially the Jazz Bass. The only thing I don't like about it is that like most modern amps, it has too many knobs/controls.The VLP & VPF controls are an unnecessary annoyance that just leads you down too many "rabbit holes". An amp that sounds this good doesn't need redundant tone controls. Also the pre-amp out level control should be moved to the back of the chassis. Best bang for the buck on the market.

  • Small and Mighty

As reviewed by Garth on 12/1/2009

For the weight and mobility this little guy gets a 5 star rating. For the power output it gets 5 stars. I use an EBS 650 as my main head and, although the Little Mark 800 sends the true tone of your bass guitar through the speakers and has some flexibility in tone, it's eq in not ultra tweekable. It's tone is focused and punchy. If your bass sounds good the Markbass good. If your bass sounds great the Markbass sounds great. Speakers are important here. The EBS 650 is also more than twice the the price so a comparison is not apples to apples here. The Markbass' 800 watts is a lot of juice and the tone is clean up to the top. Weight is 6.5 lbs. Silly sweet. HERE'S WHAT YOU MUST HAVE WHEN BUYING A MARKBASS AMP FROM GUITAR CENTER: minimally an extended 2 yr service warranty. This gives you at least 4 yrs of coverage (2 trough Markbass and 2 through GC.) I have a Markbass combo 2x10 that failed recently, just out of warranty. It is a nightmare to repair, with broken English emails coming from the Italian tech team at Markbass. US repair techs scratch their heads. The Italian team at Marbass seem good guys but their is a true language barrier. Save yourself the trouble and get the extended warranty!!! Enjoy the price, 800 watts, tone and weight. ALSO: the LM 800 sounds better than the TUBE 800, which has a muddier overall tone.

  • XLR Output bad from the factory!!!

As reviewed by Justin on 2/15/2011

I bought this at my local guitar center and played on this for a little over a month at my practice space with my band. We went to record a demo in the studio and we found the xlr output is bad! The ground is bad even when using the ground lift and other options. The 1/4 output has static in it as well. We used multiple different cables so we know it's the amp! I contacted MarkBass customer service, and a company out of California does their repair/warranty work and they want me to ship it to them for repair. 5 days from Pa to CA via UPS! Plus, one to 2 business days for the repair. So we're looking at a couple of weeks I'm going to be left without a bass amp and I got gigs to play! The features are really basic and I really don't find anything great about the tone this product puts out. I've been playing bass for 5 years with a lot of different setups, and this is by far my worst so far. The amp head is light though which I guess is one positive thing I can say about this.
