Surprisingly powerful yet tiny amp head.

The F1 is Markbass' lightest and smallest bass amp head to date. At 500W the F1 bass amp boasts an unbelievable power-to-weight ratio of more than 100W per pound. Its digital power amp gives the Markbass F1 bass amp head super-fast response and a crisp, clear, full sound that will convey every detail of your playing, instantly.

The F1 amp head's 1/4" input jack works with both active and passive basses and allows you to EQ your sound with Low, Mid Low, High Low, and High control knobs, as well as Markbass' exclusive VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) filters, with separate Gain and Master volume controls.

The rear panel has a balanced XLR out, Neutrik Speakon Combo jacks which work with either Speakon or 1/4" speaker cables, a tuner out, as well as Effect Send and Return 1/4" jacks to ensure you don't lose your main signal if a piece of your effects chain dies. There is also a ground lift switch to help eliminate hum. Despite being lightweight, the Markbass F1 bass amp head is made with a rigid 2mm thick aluminum chassis to ensure your investment can handle the rigors of the road.

  • Exellent, well worth the money

As reviewed by Dark Moose on 12/24/2009

This tiny amp packs a suprising punch. It can do anything that any other 500 watt head can and more, the built in emulators add some extra control to tone and let youre sound match your preference. On top of this you have the outstanding tone you would get from any Markbass head! I run this through a Markbass 6x10 rear ported cab and it sounds fantastic. Once you get the rackmount kit(about 30 bucks) it is a single rack space, so you arent killing off half of your rack just for the amp. with this you only need a 4-6 space rack to cover anything you could ever need (i say 6 space if you want a 2 space rack drawer) its reall convenient and does the job with flying colors. The only drawback is that Markbass gear uses 3 pronged speak-on cables which are rather difficult to come by (at least in this city) i had one professionally made for about 45 buck. (you can still use 1/4 inch inputs on a speakon connection it just doesnt sound anywhere near as good) A Fantastic buy, is suggest this to anyone, and often do.

  • Best Little Amp I've ever had

As reviewed by Anthony Sanders on 12/17/2010

I was blown away at the size and the amount of power this little light weight amps has, I first sat in on a jam session and played through this amp, it was a buddy of mines. Very powerful and clean sounding especially with the new ( VLE & VPF) knobs you can dial in the sounds you want without all the adjustments I'm playing my F1 through the markbass traveler 102p and I added the traveler 151p. Markbass has really made it easy to have all you need in a great compact package I'm very happy and I will tell anyone who asks about markbass products to just try it before you miss out on a great product!

  • Good sound but can't handle slap bass

As reviewed by joe slapper on 8/30/2011

This head sounds great with finger style playing but when ever you make the clip light go on it is just stops working until you turn it off and back on. This will happen constantly if you play slap style at reasonable volume.
