Jeff Berlin teamed up with Markbass to create this sweet signature bass combo amp, the CMD 151P. Jeff is a master bass soloist who has been playing with some of the greats for the past 30 years, including Isaac Hayes, Bill Buford, John Mclaughlin, and the Brecker Brothers, just to name a few.
Like the other CMD amp models, the 151 combo has a built-in Little Mark II preamp to help you achieve your own signature sound. The Markbass CMD 151 also has 4-band EQ and VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) filters. Unlike other bass amplifiers, the Markbass CMD 151 has no tweeter. Jeff doesn't believe in them. And if you listen to any of his performances, you'll notice there's nothing missing in his sound. The 400W 15" B&C speaker will give you all the sound you need with a tone you'll find impeccably unique and warm. Just like Jeff Berlin's playing.

I bought this amp a few months ago. I am really satisfied with the performance. I have been playing bass over 35 years and gigging out almost as long. I have a few great amps and bottoms, but nothing this compact and capable.
I am old school, I like a lot of bottom. This little amp gives me that... at volume. I am also an "old guy" so lifting SVT bottoms and V-4 heads is out. The amp is light enough to carry in one hand and the bass in the other. Less trips to make at the end of the night.
An interesting fact is, that on Wednesdays I am in the house band of an open mike. The amp gets used by a lot of different players. Some are great, some average and some are knuckleheads. The amp delivers for all different kinds of music, from country to metal. Knock on wood, it has taken some abuse and is still reliable.
Looked at, read reviews, and played almost everything in my price range over the course of a year and this was at the very top of my price range. Not matter what I thought I had settled on, I always came back to Markbass. Played the CMD 102, a 750w halfstack, and the Jeff Berlin 151. The low end on this thing is awesome, and the tone is like non other.
I cant' wait till I get a chance to plug in another 15" cab under it. BOOM'in!!
I have been through several amps over the last year unfortunately. Two Fender Rumbles (the latest a 350), and had found a sweet deal on an Ampeg SVT4/PR410+PR151 rig. Got that thing home, unloaded it, and could NOT get it back in my SUV by myself. Sold it the next day and bought the CMD 151P rig along with a New Yorker 15" cabinet. I loved the sound, but was waiting to play a gig before I reviewed it. Played 2 gigs this last weekend, one outdoor and one indoor. The rig blew me away at both venues. The outdoor venue was mostly played with the volume on 3-4, and on the indoor gig I had to turn it down to 2-3. I am running it completely flat, and my bass (Fender Jazz 5-string) is flat except the highs are rolled off a bit. It puts out a PHENOMINAL amount of low end and plenty of mids, sounds very natural, and most of all, only weighs about 75 pounds for the entire 2 pieces. I think I have found my perfect bass amp.
