  • Best Tone!!

As reviewed by James D. on 3/1/2010

First Show with this Amp and the First Time every geting Props on my bass tone in 15 years. I came from a Hartke 3500 head, and 4 x 10 transporter cab. Not a bad setup but This Markbass Rolls It!

  • After a week, its 4 stars...so far...

As reviewed by Jimi Streets on 2/24/2011

I have now owned this amp for just over one week. I'm finding out that what others have said about eq'ing this thing is true. Namely, just leave everything basically flat, with slight tweeks to suit my tastes, which is a warm, mildly mid-scooped tone. The VPF knob actually performs this scoop function, yet I'm using it at about 9 o'clock right now, with the VLE knob, which cuts highs, set about 10 o'clock. Also that it does tend to bring out the true sound of whatever bass you plug into it. Which is to say that at this point, my handmade MTD sounds amazing, but I'm having a harder time finding a "sweet spot" for my American Deluxe Jazz Bass. The way I've helped to remedy this is to use my SansAmp DI as a preamp, and so far it has enhanced the sound of my Jazz bass, and made the MTD sound even better. I plan to try a passive bass with it to see if that makes a difference, as both of my basses have active electronics. I am hoping that this amp pans out as I planned, which was to replace my Mesa M-Pulse 600 amp & 4x10 cab BEAST with a combo that weighs less (by about 90 lbs.), yet with the 3 10's and 400 watts would still be able to push enough air to cut through and be heard amongst two howling Marshalls, when I'm not going through a PA. I'll post another review in a few months and let you all know what I think then. I hope this proves helpful!

  • Buy This Amp Period!!!

As reviewed by dlenda on 5/28/2011

Been playing bass since 1986 professionally and have never heard tone like this out of an amp. I added on a 1x15 cab and it is unreal. The first gig I played was outdoor and I had the gain at less than 50% and the volume about 30% of the way up. Can't imagine a situation where I will need it any louder. Not sure you even need the additional 15 but I like the added low end. The direct out is the first one I have ever been able to use effectively in my career. The sound man told me running direct from the amp to the PA made the PA sound like a giant version of my amp. BUY THIS AMP PERIOD!!!
