these pedals are as good or better than most others of their price. I had a gibraltar double pedal i bought for $100, and i was not impressed with it at all. this pedal was my first wake up call on what a pedal should be like. i feel anybody would be happy with this double pedal's performance because of its great abilities in the categories of speed, response, and comfort.

After reading the great reviews, I bought this pedal. Someone else did mention here that there's no bottom plate on the right pedal, and this is true, and it makes the pedal feel light and moves around too much. It takes a lot more leg work to work it, the spring action is decent, but there's no power behind the kicks, and I feel it's because it's not heavy, or sturdy enough to whack the bass drum like you'd want. In the middle of a show I switched back to my single pedal and immediately felt the difference. I hope I can modify this pedal in some way to make it work, as I love playing double kick but can't afford an Iron Cobra.

Great! some small but huge problems..

    By Caleb

Comments about Mapex 500 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I had used this Double bass pedal for a couple months on my electric, but found it works so much better on my acoustic. It lasted through some nasty practices, until something bad had happened. The left stabilizing rod had stripped literally the day before I had gone into the studio to record. I couldn't find anything on where to buy a replacement, so that could be a problem for someone buying this pedal. But, in other words, the pedal is great, but be careful.

Comments about Mapex 500 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

i got these pedals 2 years ago, and for the price, theyre great. over time however, the spring tension loosens alot really quickly. i have to reach down and retighten them almost every other song. they were good to learn on, but if you know how to play double pedal, look at something a little more on the upper end

Comments about Mapex 500 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I got this pedal a while back as I needed to upgrade. The action is pretty springy, which is good, but I felt everything else was sub par. I always had an issue with the beaters sliding through, and I would have to stop playing, move them back up, and re-tighten. They would come loose every hour or so of play time. In addition I wished they would have used solid foot plates, giving the pedal more weight and rigidity. I'm not trying to bash this pedal, I feel that for the money it's not a bad choice. However, I recommend saving up and getting a better pedal, like from Pearl, Tama, or DW.

    Bought this last year,

    By Wes Link

    from Grand Island, New York

Comments about Mapex 500 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I bought this with some graduation money I received and couldn't be happier with it. My only issue with it is that my bedroom has carpeting and the left pedal would slide forward during play and so I had to put Velcro on the bottom and now it stays put even during the double kick sessions. It is my first double pedal so I'm biased to say that it is excellent.
