Overview

The Rodriguez Model FF Cutaway Guitar is an acoustic-electric guitar that is a beauty to behold and to play. Features a carefully chosen, solid German spruce gloss top and solid cypress back and sides. The headstock is Brazilian rosewood, the neck is Honduras mahogany reinforced with ebony, and the fingerboard is also ebony. A bone nut and saddle enhance the ringing tone and sustain. Gold-plated tuners and silver-plated frets are installed to last a lifetime. The body binding and wood rosette are exquisite.

This Rodriguez Classical Guitar is hand-crafted and glued to create precise balances. From the invisible careful sanding, even inside the body, that ensures the finished guitar's purity of tone, to the beautifully unique rosette inlays around the soundhole and on the back of the neck, each Rodriquez FF guitar is a credit to its luthier and worthy of being handed down from one generation to another.

The tone, resonance and beauty of fine guitars are all dependent upon the wood from which they are made. The wood used in the construction of Rodriguez guitars is carefully chosen and aged to guarantee the highest quality. No wood is purchased before the tree has been cut down, and at least 2 years must elapse before the tree is turned into lumber. The wood has to be well cut from the log. The grain must be close and absolutely vertical. The Rodriguez guitar shop's humidity is carefully monitored.

The Rodriguez FF cutaway guitar features a multi-colored wood rosette, as exquisite as the sounds that issue from it. Their intricacy and beauty signify the attention to detail that characterizes every Rodriguez guitar.

For backs and sides, Rodriguez uses Brazilian rosewood and Indian rosewood (Jacaranda). Brazilian rosewood has a beautiful color and design, making it ideal for an elegant concert classic guitar.

Rodriguez has included an L.R. Baggs 4 band preamp and pickup for events that call for more volume.

For the guitar's top, Rodriguez has experimented with other spruce woods from various parts of the world including North America, Canada, Alaska, Russia and Sweden, but Central European spruce is unique. Red Western cedar is obtained from Canada and the Northwest U.S. There are many different qualities and colors. As with spruce, stiffness, grain and weight are important.

For the neck, Rodriguez uses cedar from Honduras. There are many kinds of cedar, as the name is used on so many continents. Honduras cedar is very hard and stable, and it is also light. Necks are reinforced with 2 Ebony strips on the underside of the fingerboard for total rigidity and to eliminate shape changes as the guitar ages.

Awesome Classical Guitar

By Brent

from Bremerton WA

Comments about Manuel Rodriguez FF Cutaway Cypress Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Taking that next step in classical guitars was hard because I couldn't find super high quality classical's in any stores and it seemed like taking a shoot in the dark and buy site unseen (or heard) from online. When I first received this guitar, I thought I had made a huge, expensive mistake. Acoustically the bass was a little shallow and it didn't have a very full sound, at least not what I would expect from a guitar as expensive as this one, in fact, my much less expensive Cordoba classical sounded better acoustically. However, after changing out the factory strings to some high tension nylon strings, the sound became much more rounded and when I first plugged into my PA system, I was completely blown away by the sound this guitar produced. It sounds absolutely amazing and it finally sounded like the quality I was expecting when I first picked this guitar up. Acoustically, it is still kind of "weak", for lack of a better word, since it doesn't really sound balanced (bass notes still are noticeably weaker than highs), nor is it terribly loud. Both of which are kind of surprising to me since this is supposed to be a flamenco guitar and when you hit the body it's more a dull thud or twack sound than a musically appealing body tap should be, but if you are plugging into a PA system or using this guitar for recording through the electronics, the sound doesn't get much better than the sounds you will get out of this guitar. The playability is on par with what I would expect from an expensive guitar, especially after putting the high tension strings on, it feels fantastic and well built and you can fly across the fret board. I used to be a strictly electric guitar man, but I haven't picked up my electric guitars in months and can't seem to put this guitar down! I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone who is looking.

Incredible Sound

By Rich

from austin, texas

Comments about Manuel Rodriguez FF Cutaway Cypress Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm not a great player by any means and on top of that I have constant ringing in my ears. So when I have to choose a guitar I have to look for one that has a clear and distinct sound. The first time I picked this guitar up I was blown away. I was actually able to distinguish tones I had not heard in a while. The action and neck width on this this instrument is also perfect for my smaller hands. I really felt like my skill level had gone up a notch.
