My First Ukulele!

By Bubble Brain

from Rochester, MN

Comments about Mahalo U-30 Painted Soprano Ukulele:

Contrary to the other negative reviews I find this ukulele to be awesome:) I'm 15 and I got my pink soprano at a local music store last year. I taught myself how to tune and play it all by myself and mine is perfect for a beginner. I actually like the clear strings better than more expensive ukulele's white or black strings. This ukulele doesn't go out of tune right after tuning like some of the other reviews suggest. The instrument is the perfect size and very durable! I highly recommend this to any beginner or anyone who wants a really nice quality ukulele!

Great Uke For Beginners

By ANNE LEWIS

from Portland, Oregon

Comments about Mahalo U-30 Painted Soprano Ukulele:

This is a great little ukulele for a beginner. Of course it is not as good as a more expensive one but if you are just starting out, it's fine. I bought a class set of these to use at my school. The secret to getting them to stay in tune is to stretch the strings A LOT when you first get them. Yes, it was A LOT of work doing that with 32 ukes but now they hold a tuning for a decent amount of time and remember I use them with many many kids so they get a lot of use. They have held up very well, even with the occasional drop on the floor from a careless child! The kids LOVE the dolphin tuning pegs, which by the way are geared which helps hold them in tune once you have done a good job of stretching out the strings. The tone is decent although I have noticed some variance from uke to uke with regard to tone quality. If you are buying this for a beginner, it's a great one to start out with.

Perfect 1st set of strings, for very young kids.

By Russ Phillips Jr.

from Fargo, ND.

Comments about Mahalo U-30 Painted Soprano Ukulele:

Well put the facts on the table. Any music instrument at this price, is not top quality. It is not ment to be. I got one for my grand children, ages 1 and 2. They are haveing a great time, with it. They all have found the tuners, and have retuned it several times. Plus playing their new songs. Basicly copying me on my guitar. Plus they have found many non-musical uses. Hitting, nailing, and batting balls. The durability is great, and will be around for many years. I can not understand why people buy low cost items, and then complain about them. Just pick a color, and let the kids have fun.

You get what you pay for.

By Nancy Kinnaman

from Glendale, AZ

Comments about Mahalo U-30 Painted Soprano Ukulele:

I wanted a cheap, fun uke to take to the beaches of Mexico. I thought this was going to be it, but I was sorely mistaken. This uke does not stay tuned at all. The top and bottom strings come out of tune within minutes of tuning.

Comments about Mahalo U-30 Painted Soprano Ukulele:

I restrung this little uke with some D'Addario strings and the sound drastically improved. The top fret requires a lot of pressure to successfully bar but I've found that to be the case for most sopranos I've played on. For the price you pay, this is a decent little travel buddy or practice plinker.

      Inexpensive run

      By Michael

      from San Antonio

Comments about Mahalo U-30 Painted Soprano Ukulele:

This has been an enjoyable purchase. As others have said, I have to tune it every day (an app for my tablet called Carltune makes that real easy). I cheat and play guitar chords, they're the same, just in a different key. May get one for my granddaughter.
