Overview

The latest development in Mackie's small format mixers, the ProFX series v2 sounds better than ever and supplies convenient features at every knob, fader, input and putput. This is the ProFX12v2. It features 6 extremely low-noise Mackie Vita mic preamps designed to add life to any input, as well as the all-new ReadyFX effects engine with 16 great-sounding effects including reverbs, delays and choruses.

Live applications
A 7-band graphic EQ is available on the master output, switchable for tuning mains or monitors, and an aux output is perfect for driving a monitor mix. There is a 3-band EQ (80Hz, 2.5kHz and 12kHz) on all three input channels. The input scheme features six XLR inputs with TRS option, as well as dual 1/4" stereo input channels. A built-in USB interface allows recorded music to be played between sets, and you can even use it to bus your mix to a recording device. Insert, 100Hz low-cut filter and 48V phantom power on all mic channels. 60mm faders.

You can directly connect guitar, bass and other instruments via Hi-Z input or connect a microphone and take advantage of the Vita preamp. It features a 100Hz low-cut filter and 48V phantom power on all mic channels, along with a stereo RCA tape I/O with input level control. A headphone output with separate level control gives your engineer a second point of reference. The ProFX8v2 also has Balanced XLR and balanced/unbalance ¼-inch main outputs, an FX mute with remote control via footswitch, and a break switch that mutes all channels for music playback between sets.

Built like a Mackie
Mackie 's legendary œBuilt-Like-A-Tank design is reflected in the solid steel chassis, tough ABS side protection, and quality posts and knobs combine to protect your investment. Rugged and roadworthy are two of the most common adsjectives used to describe Mackie equipment. With mixers, that is a critical attribute. For international traveling, the ProFX12v2 includes a robust internal multi-voltage power supply.

We bought the profx12V2 to replace a Mackie 1402 that was real old and had a few dead channels. The input and output pin outs were the same as the 1402 so switching was easy. Some of our musicians and preachers get kind of loud unexpectedly so the high headroom on the mic channels is great. We usually leave the equalizer fairly flat but boost the bass a few db. Having the effects eq simplifies giving different environments for different events. The led metering is accurate. The only problem we had was the line level inputs did not have enough gain for our wireless mics. We used the mic level wireless receivers outputs into 2 mic inputs and that works fine but you lose 2 wired mic inputs. For our small Unitarian Universalist fellowship It does a good job.

I purchased (2) of these units. I have a vocal group and also DJ. I love the sound and ease of use. However, I lost a channel and effects on one mixer. I had it repaired at an authorize repair facility. Within two months lost same channel. I took back two additional times for the same problem. This past week two channels on my other Profx12 went down it has cost more to keep them repaired than they cost new. Not sure what to do. I love the mixer. Just keeps losing channels. The reason I gave it a 3 star is due to durability.

Comments about Mackie ProFX12v2 12-Channel Professional FX Mixer with USB:

I play in a band and we have a full blown sound system, but sometimes the lead singer and I do small acoustic shows. I picked this up a couple of years ago for that purpose and use it with a couple of powered speakers. It has worked flawlessly and is extremely easy to set up and use. I like having the built in effects too to add a little bit to the vocals. There is only one drawback, but it wasn't enough to dock stars...it only has one monitor out. That's why I probably wouldn't want to use this for more than small venues with only the two of us, but for our needs it's perfect.

Great board with tons of built in effects. The Phantom power is a nice option. Wonderful sound quality with individual EQ for both house and monitor mixes let's you pin point the sound you want. The board does not provide power to monitors so an additional power source is needed to run them. Overall great product. Very sturdy.

Bought this to pair with a pair of Thump15s. All I can say is what a combo. Now to just get a couple thump12s for monitors and a couple of subs to complete my system and I'll be ready to go.

I bought this and donated it to our church praise team. Within literally six hours of use over the course of two weeks it simply died in the middle of a song. Church setting with low volume, 6 vocal mics and one acoustic guitar input. Two experienced pros couldn't determine the cause of the failure. It's going back. Hopefully the Yamaha I wanted will be available.
