How can I put this? This mixer is truly revolutionary in its capabilities. I've done tons of recordings from all genres and the 1 question I was always asked was "Can you put a live effect on while I'm recording?" and of course my mixer at the time wasnt able to, so my answer was always no, sadly. The fact that this mixer not only comes with 16 effects on it you can also customize the amount of the effect which is very good for me. I have 6 presets already and the usb connection? UM um um....loss of words is what it is. I highly advise the purchasing and use of this product for begginers to professionals.

For the price, it's hard to beat the features of this mixer. Were it not for the high pitched noise/whine that appears during recording, I would not have this. The noise essentially defeats the purpose of the USB.returned I tested the mixer on three different computers (one a MacBook Pro) and two different power outlets, but the noise is evident no matter the changes. Forum posts around the net seem to indicate this is a common problem. My advice, save a little extra and get a better mixer, possibly other than a Mackie, which is what I intend to do. I've heard unconfirmed rumors that Mackie switched manufacturers recently, so these models are now made in China. Whatever the case may be, Mackie dropped the ball on this line.

Workhorse

By Matt Phillips

from Seattle

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

I've been using my ProFX12 for live acoustic shows and recordings for several years now. I'm not sure what some of the users are complaining about with noisy recordings or whatever, as my mixer has been a solid workhorse since day one, and has never caused me fits on the road or in the studio. Built in FX and USB make this a serious all-in-one mixer, and the difference between the Mackie preamps/general audio quality versus everything else I've listened to over the years has made me a very happy owner.

My second one, I like them.

By Mark Center

from Riverside CA

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

I use this for live music and in my DJ and KJ rig. I could use more channels but, size and weight are important so this fits me okay. The first one I had, while unplugging an active acoustic guitar, blew something in Ch 1 Hi-Z channel. Couldn't be fixed in a cost effective manner. Sold the until to pay for half of the new one. I will now turn all volumes to zero before unplugging or plugging in a guitar. The on board effects are amazing. If you want to use more effects, you can hook up more using the Effects out, Stereo in and mix those in with the board effects; the outboard effects do no defeat the on-board effects, very nice. I gave it 4 stars because I haven't tried recording with this unit. For live mixing, this is a great mixer. NOTE: No rack mounting options. I made up some large L-brackets that the unit sits in, a little Vecro on the bottom side of the unit and bingo, the unit sits snug and still pops out of the top of the rack with a slight tug.

Love the mixer, but stuff was missing

By Wesley Gaul _

from dorset, OH

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

Love this mixer, just what I needed for my solo gigs and great sound and effects built in. However, it was supposed to come with a manual and softare - I didn't get those. Make sure you ask for it and get it. Guitar Center is inconsistent in their product configurations.

Worth the low price - USB noise fix posted as well

By Chris Ellison

from Gresham Oregon

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

First of all the USB noise is most likely due to having a B00 Rev of the board. If you happen to have the issue simply pick up the phoen and call Mackie. They will run you through your personl setu to ensure your setup is correct and if so they will replace your board with rev# c01. All in all it's a great mixer for an entry level mixer or small on stage mixer for the drummer. Some might argue me calling it an entry level, but there's some very useful features that are not on it but I still rate it a 5. Really for this kind of money what can a person really expect for fatures? If you're on a limited budget, need some nice vocal effects do not hesitate to buy this product. Very well built, clean string inputs and outputs. Very happy with it over all.

Mackie ProFX12 is a great mixer

By Widmarke Loo

from Kamuel, Hawaii

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

I have been using the Mackie ProFX12 for about a year now in Hawaii at the resort I work at three nights a week and this mixer is owned by the resort. This gig has two hours of music Seven nights a week. I do three night and others do the rest of the nights. So as you can see this mixer is being used by about three or sometimes four different musicians. As you may or may not know the more people use it the more chances of abuse. It is also stored in there wine cellar which I don't think is the best place for it. The inexperienced staff carries it out and musicians sit it up. The point is it can handle some abuse. I liked it so much I ended up buying one myself to replace it with and older VLZ 12 I have. The two things that sold me is the built in effects and the 7 band Equalizer which makes this mixer much better for solo, duo or trio bands. With the VLZ I always had to carry and external effects which was always a hassle but works and with no 7 band EQ on the VLZ 12. The EQ makes a 99% difference! The only thing I would have liked is knobs volume controls instead of sliders. So this said I highly recommend the Mackie ProFX12 mixer!!

Meh

By d.

from Fake City, USA

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

For the price, the features are hard to beat. With exception to the high pitched noise introduced when recording, the mixer sounds quite good. But the noise is pretty big negative and a consistent problem with this model (according to multiple forum posts). If you're thinking of getting this mixer, I would suggest you save a little extra and get something better and more reliable. Mackie seems to be dropping the ball these days.

mackie pro FX12

By Cereal Killer

from South Bend, Indiana

Comments about Mackie ProFX12 Professional Compact Mixer:

This is a great mixer for the price. The USB in sounds great, but I would like to have more control. This is truely one of the best little mixer could ever buy. I strongly suggest buying one. Now the things I don't like. I think the effects are weak, the effects package on the CFX is more versatile. The Tracktion software was a pain to download, but if your into producing it looks great but complicated
