Comments about Mackie Onyx 820i Firewire Mixer:

This board is exactly what I needed for my home studio. Some extra features like vari-mid on ch 1-2, and 4 band EQ on 3. Record all 8 tracks at 96K perfectly to a Windows 10 PC. Awesome Mackie sound that we all expect is there. I mentioned the odd shape. It has a tall and narrow footprint, unlike most mixers in this class. After resetting my rack, I got used to it pretty quickly. Oh, and the fire wire cable is pretty short. Plan on getting a longer cable or your PC will need to very close to the mixer.

Comments about Mackie Onyx 820i Firewire Mixer:

Onyx is not supporting this mixer with drivers for the Mac. There is no fix. Even the supposed programming fix you see on forums doesn't work. Guitar Center doesn't say this mixer is no longer supported by Mac. Mac can't understand what is wrong with Onyx. I talked to the president of the company and he said 'maybe' they would consider going 'another spin' on support for this chip set for firewire in the mac, but so far nothing. I have two of these mixers. The old chip set for firewire works great ... and when I get the cheap pots fixed it'll will be great to have it back ... meanwhile I bought a new one ... and it is a boat anchor. Utterly useless for Mac users. LOUD technologies should send me my money back, so I use this mixer for target practice. That's about what it's worth to me.

    Correction

    By Jason

    from TX

Comments about Mackie Onyx 820i Firewire Mixer:

Great mixer for the price. I wanted to correct what an earlier review said. Using Firewire into your DAW, this is an 8 IN / 2 OUT digital interface. So coming out from your DAW you only get a stereo mix. (The other review mistakenly said it is 8in/8out).

    WOW!!!!

    By Abe

Comments about Mackie Onyx 820i Firewire Mixer:

This mixer is awesome!! I have a Motif Rack XS, being controlled a Fantom G, running into this mixer. Perfect for a small production or recording setup. Flawless integration with Logic Pro. I own an Apogee Duet, and love it but it cant compare to the options of the Mackie. I haven't used the Duet since this purchase. True 8 in/ 8 out, with the capability of using software plugin.....Absolutely Awesome! I want the 1640i!!
