These speakers sound great.

Comments about Mackie MR8 mk3 8" 2-Way Powered Studio Monitor:

I picked up a set of these a couple of weeks ago and I love them. They have a very full mid-range and really good overall sound. I highly recommend you give them a listen if you are in the market. I went to the store intending to buy either Rokits or JBL's and left with these. No regrets. I play bass through my stack and use these as accompaniment. If you wanted these for low-end work, you'd want to augment them with a sub or go bigger, but that applies to any speaker of this class.

Comments about Mackie MR8 mk3 8" 2-Way Powered Studio Monitor:

I demoed these in GC. Not bad for the money but they are a bit muddy in the midrange. I listened to these along with the Yamaha HS8 monitors and the difference was night and day. I walked in wanted to purchase the mackie's but left with Yamaha, but just go listen to them and trust your ears.

Comments about Mackie MR8 mk3 8" 2-Way Powered Studio Monitor:

Spent at least an hour plus A/Bing the Mackies and all the other 8" speakers on the market that were available at the local Guitar Center. I tried the Yamahas, M-Audios, Mackie's, Adams, Tannoys, Focals, etc.

The Mackie's weren't as perfectly "flat" like the Yamahas are for the recording type.
They weren't as bassy as the M-Audios.
The highs weren't as perfectly crisp as the Adams and their ribbon type tweeter.

What they were though were the most balanced. A bit of adjustment in them allows you to keep them nearly as flat as the Yamahas, but kick up the bass with controls on the back to near rival the M-Audios, and do the same with the treble to wake up the tweeters like the Adams.

Basically what I'm saying is that they were the most "dynamic." Or at least able to be dynamic. When I listen to music I want the bass to be present and not lost. I want the crispness of the drums to also be heard.

I feel that these delivered in all those areas more completely than all of their competitors.

That night I left with these and my wife who cares less about feeling the low end (she plays at much quieter volumes than I) left with the much more expensive Adam A7X's, and I happily left with the Mackie's.

Comments about Mackie MR8 mk3 8" 2-Way Powered Studio Monitor:

I've had these speakers for 3 years now and I couldn't be happier. One of them failed 1 month out of warranty and Mackie sent me a replacement no questions asked. Great service and support! I use them for sound editing and playing my keys, electronic drums, and bass problems what so ever.
