These monitors are excellent. They have plenty of low end and are very crisp. I'm glad I bought these over some of the other similiarly priced ones.
HAD TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF MY SPEAKERS BECAUSE MY WORK SPACE SHRANK LOL... I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME FIVE TO SIX INCH MONITORS, TO DO THE JOB, I SAW THE MACKIE'S, AND WERE A LITTLE GUN SHY BECAUSE I HAD THE GEN 2'S BEFORE AND DID NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL, I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT THE GEN 3 MR5'S AND I MUST SAY THEY ARE THE TRUTH INDEED, THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE MAKEUP OF THIS SPEAKER, THEY LOOK SMALL, OF COURSE I AM USE TO SEEING 8 IN MONITORS IN FRONT OF ME, SO THE SIZE MADE ME THINK TWICE ASWELL, I DO ALOT OF TRAP MUSIC, AND THE 808 IS AN UNFORGIVING DRUM. I SET THESE LITTLE MONSTERS UP AND PUT ON A PROJECT I FINISHES A FEW DAYS AGO, AND WAS BLOWN AWAY, THESE LITTLE MONSTERS ROARED LIKE A LION, THE HIGH'S WERE ON POINT, AND THE MID, AND SUBS WERE ON THE MONEY ASWELL, I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS, AND I AM GOING TO KEEP THESE FOR MIXING PURPOSES, WHEN I GET BIGGER MONITOR'S IN THE FUTURE AGAIN, I WILL BE THE GEN 3'S JUST IN A BIGGER SIZE,...NEVER JUDGE A MONITOR BY IT COVER, LOL, GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK..GET YOU A PAIR AND HAVE FUN...GREAT FOR ALL KINDS OF MUSIC... THE LOOK AND FEEL OF THE MONITOR ARE GREAT, THE SOUND IS AWESOME , AND THE MOD OPTIONS ON THE BACK ARE WORKFLOW FRIENDLY, LOVE THE COMPACT DESIGN.. WRITTEN BY CHEYENNE TUBAL CAIN REYES...
Picked these up after a listening to several different monitors in the store, and have zero regrets. The MR5 gen 2s were in stock too at a lower price, but the 3s just sang in comparison (well, edged out the 2s anyway). Also listened to the BX5s, which just seemed lacking in the bass department compared to everything else in the room. Listened to the Rokit gen 2s as well, and those were a little ?boxy? or ?pinched? sounding compared to other speakers? The new Mackies just seemed like the perfect balance. Clear, articulate highs (more so than the KRKs), and relatively deep bass for a 5? 2-way monitor (definitely more so than the BX5s). I also thought the new Yamahas played nice, but weren?t worth the extra money? and look kind of stale besides. Anyway, great purchase!
