I've used the 1642 VLZ Pro as a preamp section for a digital recording studio, as well as using it for basic live sound. The preamps in this board are very musical. In direct comparison to similarly priced mixers, Phonix, Yamaha, and Behringer mixers sound lifeless, whereas the Mackie provides a full bodied sound.
