If you are picky about sound...
This speaker sounds great! i have used it for about 5 years now. the one thing is as they have got older they tend to over heat if you push them or if they dont have enough air space in the back. (there is no fan to keep them cool) The bass is ok for mids but doesnt really have any kick to it.

Not built for the road!
We have been using these mackies for our blues band for over 5 years. The original Mackie dealers have sold to a bigger company and maybe they will figure out how to make their self powered speaker design last through a couple of years of one night gigs in bars where the cabs have to be moved in and out and then stored. I noticed all of the comments on this product were from musicians who have the system in their church where it never gets moved. But my band plays alot of one nighters and the mackie cabs have not been able to hang in there. We have had quite a few problems with getting them repaired as well as having to use our monitors as mains, and having no monitor for ourselves at a show when several of these incidents have occurred. The Mackie system costs too much to keep a spare on hand for when this happens.Great sound quality but they have a way to go before I would suggest that a working musician rely on it.

Music at a whole new level!
These powered monitors take your music to the next level of listening. They have excellent sonic response and projection. Highs are crisp, lows are tight, but not muddy. Plus, they last very long and are very reliable. I've used mine every week for five years, and it still performs like the day I bought it!

FORGET ABOUT YOUR OLD SPEAKERS
All of the previous reviews are absolutely true! Try them out at your nearest music store. I first heard these speakers at a gas station along a very noisy/busy highway. With my window rolled down, the DJ was cranking them at a nominal level to a point where I could hear the highs, mids, & and almost ?feel? the bass projected all the way out to the highway from inside my car! So I turned around, pulled into the gas station, & asked the DJ, "Where's the sub?". Surprisingly, he was only using a pair of SRM450's on tripod stands raised to 6 feet high ? dat?s it! I?ve been using these speakers + an SWA1801 sub as a drum monitor (electronic & acoustic), keyboard monitor, FOH mains, home stereo replacement speakers in conjunction with a Mackie1202 mixer. It?s the last speaker you?ll ever need. With all the built in electronics, you?ve a built-in soundman in the speakers, Plug?n?Play and worry free! Sell your old speakers and BUY SRM450?s NOW!!
