Great mixer for live and home recording

Mackie combines their excellent mixer with an option for direct too hard drive recording via an accessory Firewire card. The preamps are superb, as are the EQs. With so many USB and Firewire sound devices, it is great to have an option which is also a full-fledged, top flight mixer. And it s a rigged package. With this mixer in a gig bag and a laptop you've got a mobile recording studio. But, individuals who intend to purchase the firewire card for hard drive recording should note: the signal from the mixer to the firewire is PRE-EQ and FADER. An e-mail from Mackie in forms me that one can mail their mixer to someplace in Texas for a retrofit to have the Firewire signal POST EQ and FADER. I am not sure which, really, is preferrable...

What a mixer!

I was looking at some lower priced mixers with firewire capabilities, and was disappointed with what I found. When I came across the Mackie Onyx 1220, though, I found what I was looking for. The endless features on this compact mixer alone are worth the price, and the superb sound of the new Mackie Onyx pre-amps and Perkins EQ are your added bounus. I bought the added firewire card with this, and couldn't be happier.
