Awesome LOW FREQ

i recently purchased some M Audio studiophile Bx5a's and boy did the low frequency on that thing suck. I liked the quality as far as the mid and hi frequencies but the low did not cut it for me so i returned them for these Mr5's. after playing them side to side with the M audio the LF on this baby blew the M audio speakers away by far. THe only thing about the speakers was that the high freq was sacrificed. the LF on this is 55w, HF is 30w. the M audio on the other hand had a LF of 40w and the HF 30w. i make hip hop and reggae beats so i need alot of bass. thank god those filter switchs are located on the back of them so i can adjust the LF or HF to perfection.

WOW! Awesome Monitors On The Cheap!!

As soon as I hooked up these monitors to my setup and tested them, I was blown away by the low-end. These little 5" subwoofers pack a mean punch, and the Low and High filter switches on the back are a godsend. My highs are crisp and true, and the bass kicks. I used these monitors to master a track I recently wrote, and it sounded 100% better on other systems than it did when I initially composed it on my old PC speakers. If you're looking for a great set of monitors by one of the best names in audio, don't waste your time looking elsewhere. For the price and brand, you simply cannot top the Mackie MR5s!

Great Speaker Great Price

I wasnt sure how these speakers would sound; to my suprise they sound great and blew me away. They are great for mixing. The MR-5's let you hear what is really there sonically and have a good bass response. Dont expect these speakers to make what you have sound good, they allow you to hear the quality of your mix. Bad mix, bad sounding audio. I would choose these over the yamaha HS-50's; for the price and sound structure. In short you wont need a sub woofer unlike other speakers this size. Take my advice if your looking for monitors around this size and price range get these before they run out.. Remember bad mix, horrible sounding music.. Audio defects cant hide from these speakers.

Clear Powerful Representation

Ive been debating wether or not to buy monitors for sometime now. After reading all the reviews on monitors in my price range I set my targets on these MR5's. Before buying I demoed them against all others in the price range. I have to say these monitors are amazing, They are clear, they are powerful, they look great, there is no exaggerated response curve. Just what you need. If you need monitors or hate your monitors don't hesitate for a second. I would have paid double for these I like them so much. FYI I paired these with the apoggee DUET as a preamp, the bass is amazing!

Very warm, full sound. Well worth the $$

Bought these to enjoy my digital keyboards at home, downstairs rec room. Just as clean and crisp as you could ask for. Left both tone slide switches in the middle. No need to tweak. The grand piano bottom end sounds are incredible for these little woofers. My hat's off to their engineers. I did opt for balanced cables. The schematic for the speakers shows an extra transistor in use with the XLR input. No brainer. TRS from the piano and XLR to the speakers. Was holding out for the Mackie MR8s until I heard these. Saved myself a few $$
