  • Impressed so far

As reviewed by Daniel Auger on 11/15/2013

I currently have this set up in my living room, and paired with Mackie mr8mk2's. Unfortunately the room is not acoustically treated whatsoever so its not fair for me to judge too harshly on the accuracy, but i can tell you its powerful, clean, and thus far I am impressed. Has plenty of available power, anything above unity gain and it will wash out the mains and it can get straight obnoxious if you are looking for raw thump. I'm excited to get in the studio and do some serious testing, but for now in my home theater sort of setting this thing is awesome. I know my largest apprehension was pairing this with the mk2 mains that have no adjustable low crossover and having the lows go to mud or worse just be hot in that range and mess up a mix, but after a bunch of crossover knob tweaking they appear to pair well and sound pretty natural together. Without a graph and treated room it's impossible to know what exactly is happening but to my naked ear it sounds quite smooth (apart from obvious hot frequencies in my awful room). I decided i was willing to upgrade my mains to mk3's if necessary before i bought this, but as of now i'm happy enough with the mk2's to not be running right back to GC. I may not be able to judge exact responses but i can tell you I can hear the dirty lows in modern electronice music with significantly more clarity and definition than just my mains going and that was the whole point.

  • Fantastic little sub

As reviewed by TANNER on 6/30/2015

I'm glad I went with this thing after looking at multiple studio subs. I run 8" Fostex 3-ways through it and the setup is absolutely killer. It's got power to spare, and the crossover will let you dial in exactly what you need. It really helps the mains accurately recreate my bass tone, on all five of my basses. It's in a good, small package, but it's dense, so heavier than it looks, but that should be expected. I definitely think it's one of the better studio sub options available for the price, plus it's a HUGE upgrade to my gaming rig haha. Any kind of explosion through this guy nearly blows my windows out if I'm not careful.
