I've had this pedal for a year and a half. It does exactly what I was craving a distortion pedal to do. Pure sound quality. The distortion and output knobs give a good range of effects. If you turn up the output and drop the distortion, you get a rich, clean overdrive. Upping the distortion and dropping the output delivers that gritty, dirty distortion that you're likely after. And every combination in between produce satisfying variations. You can truly dial in your desired tone.

One disclaimer: my pedal runs HOT. For example, if my distortion knob is at 2 o'clock, my output knob will need to be at 7 o'clock, or it's unbearably loud. When I switch to a different pedal after playing this pedal, the next pedal always seem quiet by comparison. But what can I say? This pedal is BA, and it delivers exactly what I wanted. And over time I've gotten a better handle on how to dial in the right amount of heat.

I wholeheartedly recommend this pedal.

I compared this to the Plexitone by Carl Martin through a Fender Bassbreaker 15 combo. The two pedals are very close to the same thing. The Super BA is slightly tighter, a little more modern sounding while the Plexi is just that - more Plexi, with better note articulation from the high strings. The Super BA slightly darkens the higher notes when playing chords. The Super BA is very transparent but does color your tone just a tad with the drive knob all the way down while the Plexi is not, with the drive knob all the way down you still realize some drive in your tone but not so much any real alteration to your original tone. Both have great sustain and harmonic response (the BA may be a bit better) but what got me was when I started playing leads with my Flashback delay on. For some reason with the delay engaged (through the loop) the Super BA experiences note loss, or dropout!?!!? WTH!?!?! Both pedals can be pushed through a clean or dirty channel for boosting lead. I liked the modern-esc vibe from the BA but went with the Plexi because of the issues with note drop out through the delay. For the most part my Fender creates the exact tone as delivered from the Plexi but from the tube drive which thicker and fuller - really nice. For modern distortion (metal) I'll be trying the MXR Fullbore Metal.

Best Distortion Pedal

By Eric DiBella

Comments about MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the best distortion pedal you can get for the price. It is the most versatile distortion pedal I have ever used. This pedal gives great variety in tone ranging from classic distortion to a classic metal sound. This pedal can also be used to boost your gain channels as well as be a boost for your solo sound. All in all, this pedal will be a great asset to any musicians arsenal.

The Best All Around Stompbox Out There!

By Johnny Lenczycki

from Manchester NH

Comments about MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Let me start by saying I generally prefer the sound of amp distortion over a pedal. But having said that, I don't always have the option of lugging around my own amps and have to settle for using rented, borrowed or club equipment. So I needed something to get me close to my own tone when those situations arose. This pedal is the solution to all your distorted needs! It's the most versatile and most controllable pedal on the market...PERIOD!!!! Whatever you're looking for this thing will give you. If you want a little gritty overdrive for blues...done! If you want a creamy distortion for classic rock...done!! If you want balls out crunch for metal...done!! This thing does is all, and it does it very well! And all for under $100? How can you go wrong? You really can't! Buy This!!!

My first pedal

By Patrick Collins

from WV

Comments about MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

The reason why i got this pedal was because the distortion on my amp suck! Now it sounds amazing! I've owned this pedal for about two months and have been using it a lot. I did some of my research on youtube and i thought it sounded a whole lot better than the others. Plus for the price you cant go wrong. The only problem is that it didnt come with a power supply so your gonna have to get one or have a 9volt battery with you but other than that this product is great! I plan on buying more mxr pedals.

Comments about MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

The sound can be very distorted with a really strong output. The sound has a good quality, although maybe not the best distortion we've heard.
The good part is that you have controls of frequencies (not only one button tone).

The pedal is small and lightweight, and uses 9v input.

Comments about MXR M75 Super Badass Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This MXR Distortion has a lot to offer. It gives a 1970's Classic Metal - Rock tone, if you put it on the '65 Twin Reverb setting (mainly what I use) it'll give a cleanly w/ mix of a dirty sound for my amp, to put it on the Metal 2000' setting it definitely gives a monster dirty sound. MXR didn't disappoint us \m/
