The MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay Pedal features a completely analog audio path for the ultimate in rich, warm delay--made possible only by old-school bucket brigade technology. This design boasts an amazing 600ms of delay time with optional modulation via a top-mounted switch and a simple, three-knob layout that controls Delay time, Mix (dry/wet blend), and Regen (delay repeats)--all in a pedal no bigger than a Phase 90. In addition, the M169 pedal has two internal trim pots that offer user-adjustable width and rate control of the modulation for even more tonal options. The Carbon Copy effect pedal will take you from crisp "bathroom" slap echoes to epic, Gilmour-esque delays with a twist of a knob. True hard-wire bypass, single 9-volt operation, and stage-ready blue LEDs round out the package.

I've had a couple digital delays in the past, but none I've been really impressed with the sound. This analog delay really carries through the warm tone of the first iteration. I also have an MXR Dyna Comp from the 70's that is still one of my main pedals, so I know they are built to last. Simple to use, great sound, solid construction, I'd highly recommend this pedal.

I recently bought this delay pedal for use with my Peavy JSX and my Ibanez RG Prestige with EMG 81/85 s for lead work and soloing, as well as some clean playing as well. The main problem I had with this delay was that the sound (doubled up) on itself too much and the sound was incomprehensible. I know it wasnۡt just the way I set it because I spent hours trying every possible combination.

This is the first analog delay I have had. I love the 'warm' sound with the option of 'wet' or 'dry' sound as well. This is one tough little pedal! It is well made to withstand whatever you throw at it (within reason of course). It makes my so-so guitar playing sound top notch when I get 'in step' with the delay - something I am still trying to master. I highly doubt you will regret getting this pedal. True - it doesn't have the sound-on-sound ability and the deep memory that a digital pedal does but for most players, I think it is a great tool for your music arsenal.
I've always been a fan of analog delay over digital. This pedal is awesome!. I have it on quite a bit. Mostly for slap back effect but, adjust it here and there for whatever is needed. Tweet the modulation a bit when I first got it and I don't know if I could survive with out this pedal.
I originally bought this at the GC in Cherry Hill, NJ to replace my Boss DD-3 that I sold along with two other Boss pedals. It's an AMAZING upgrade and I can tap in all of the favorite classic delays just perfect (U2, Pink Floyd, and my personal favorite, Funkadelic's Maggot Brain) If you're looking for warm and rich analog delay, then THIS pedal is for YOU!
This puppy pops right out of the box. She performs seamlessly, especially in tandem with a Phaser. Pink Floyd dreams, for sure. This pedal is well-built, with power to spare. Great investment for the pedal array.
Some may complain of a little tone "darkening" and lack of options, but I like the sound.
The MXR Carbon Copy is one of the few products that comes along that is truly noteworthy and fits in the category of "a must have" pedal. There has been a lot of rave and hype about this delay pedal, and I can say what you have heard and read is true. The pedal, like all MXR products, is straight forward, easy to use, and ready to go right out of the box. You can adjust the Regen, Max, and Delay knobs and there is a lighted blue off/on Modification switch. The instructions come with slap, standard, and long delay settings for you to use. It would be really hard to go wrong with this pedal. The range is endless and it produces a very warm, yet clear sound. The master footswitch is true bypass and is perfectly clean. Don't let the analog thing make you nervous. I owned and used a Boss DD3 Digital Delay for 7 years and the Carbon Copy has it beat in every way hands down and has a nicer tone. The pedal is identical is size and shape to the MXR Phase 90. There is a nice metallic green paint job and the blue LED light is extremely bright. All in all, Jim Dunlop has really outdone themselves with this pedal and really hit a grand slam with it. The only con about this pedal is once you have it....you will kick yourself for not buying it a long time ago!!
Great algorithms and control on the sound. Can adjust and develop beautiful big atmospheres or tight echoes. Lots of fun and a great asset.
I see a lot of reviews that this pedal doesn't shine through on the distortion channels. With me this isn't the case. I play metal, and I tell you this thing made my rig come alive, especially with the modulation button. This pedal is clear, and gloomy. I love this pedal. No matter how slow or fast I played the delay kept its pace. This pedal will take your once so called solo and force it into the realms of darkness, which if you play metal this is a must! Sooo EERIE!! COOL!!!!!! Definitely awesome on clean channel! I played this pedal through a Mesa Engineering 50 watt and I bought it. Wow!!
I originally had a digital delay and, although it did sound pretty good, there was just something missing. This pedal has it. The delay you get from an analog delay is noticeably better and you have more control over the sound. You can use this to get a quick, slap-back delay or you can use it to make super crazy spacey sounds. It has everything you could need in a delay pedal. This is, of course, unless you need two delays to create stacked effects. That's why I still keep my digital delay on my board. Speaking of the pedal board, this MXR pedal takes up minimal space, so that is great. Fantastic pedal!
This was the first pedal I bought when I started playing guitar more seriously about 6 months ago. Very warm tone, lots of versatility. I have simple set up with an old Champ from the 70's, Maxon OD9, Malekko Chicklet, and an MXR '78 Distortion. This pedal is everything I need and a lot more. As my playing improves, I only learn to appreciate the Carbon Copy more. I can't say enough great things about the quality of MXR. Highly recommended.
