Not a Dyna Comp

By Darren

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

I own and use seven MXR pedals and they are all great except this one. This is the only pedal I rarely ever use. The only positive is it adds alittle sustain, but the negatives far outweigh that. It really affects the tone of your guitar, I'm not sure what it does but it either sucks the tone, or it does something to the tone not favorable. Plus another negative is the output knob. It has to be at atleast 12 o'clock to really get the sustain but being up that high really boosts the volume when you turn the pedal on. Some might think that's good but it's not. It's almost impossible to get the volumes relatively close when pedal goes from off to on. Just get the original dyna comp. Countless numbers of your guitar heroes use them and they can't be wrong. Please don't let this reflect badly on MXR pedals. Like I said I have seven MXR pedals, infact they're the only pedals I use, and they are all great (Classic Fuzz, GT Overdrive, Analog Delay, Phaser 100). This is the only pedal from MXR I got that I thought was anything less than amazing.

Best Compression I Have used......

By Mark

from Illinois

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

I finally got tired of the Boss C/Hiss-3 and just got rid of it. The compressor is a necessary part of a good sound. Enter the MXR SuperComp. Well worth the money and you would be well served to put one in your chain.

MXR Supercomp

By D.G. Bailey

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

I bought this pedal because I saw Jeff Hanneman from Slayer was using it. I have a Steve Vai 7-string Universe and a Mesa Boogie Roadking II combo. I still haven't found a pedal that makes my distortion sound better for rhythm, but when I play lead I kick this pedal on and I can finally get the sound I want. It provides more sustain and it evens the attack of the notes out. If you're going to use it for rhythm turn the settings most of the way up and turn your noise gate up a little higher too. For lead, switch to your neck pickup and turn the settings down to half. It really has changed the way I approach the sound for lead guitar. I love this pedal.

Simple, easy and sounds great

By Big Daddy D

from Arizona

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

This is a simple, easy to use pedal that does a great job without killing your tone. The addition of the 'attack level'is really useful. It allows you to adjust where the compression kicks in, so that you can still have some dynamics, and you can move away from that Nashville popping twang that the DynaComp produces at higher compression levels. It works with all my other pedals and does not color the sound. You can get sustainus infinitum too. So, if you want a pedal compressor, look no further. If you're looking at the DynaComp, pay the few extra bucks. Be aware that MXR stuff generally does not come with an AC adapter, so you may have to order one separately.

secret weapon

By J Mac

from Wisconsin

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

it took me some time to master this pedal but it was well worth it. with a little bit of overdrive set the pedals 3 knobs all at 12 o'clock, set the output a little higher and then start messing with the attack level. it will make the notes sound like they are popping out. play a sustained note and listen for the 'swell'. this is a subtle effect but very expressive. i will never go with out it.
