If you want to use amp distortion but get that extra distorted scooped sound, than this is what you need. 10 eqs does seem intimidating but it is simple after you use it the first time. You can distinctly hear what every eq is and what you been wanting. You can turn up the bass with out turning up the frumpy lows, and you can turn up the crunch like dimebag, and turn down the highest eq to still do sweeps without making people cringe. Ive been playing through a line 6 bogner tube head and being beat in bass by a marshall mg100 at the lower and middle volumes. Once i got this pedal his jaw dropped. If you have a tube head and love the warm sound but miss the deep bass and awesome distortion, or if you use a distortion pedal and want to turn down the mids lower with out the dry sound and turn up the treble without the slaying ring, than this is what you want. Once you get it, you will realize why you dont get the control you want out of three nobs. Email me if you have any questions.

This pedal completely robs the tone out of your guitar. It makes it very dry and brittle sounding, even when the pedal is switched off. The pedal simply being in the chain takes a tole on the sound of your guitar. I am very particular with guitar tone so this pedal does not live up to standards. The most important criteria I have when buying a pedal is that it sound like it was never connected when it is bypassed. I pedal shouldn't affect your tone while turned off; thats simply ridiculous. Failure of a pedal.

Happy EQ Owner

By Bruce M.

from San Jose, CA

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I purchased this EQ to place in my effects loop (post pre-amp) and am quite happy with the results. I was able to ditch my stomp box and fully realize the high-gain potential from my Splawn Competition. This EQ can definitely tame any harsh sounds when the amp is cranked up. I had no idea an EQ could have such a big effect on sound.

--""Good 10 Band Eq""--

By Ramon

from San Diego California

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

A basic but very tweakable eq. 10 sliders take care of a gernerous range of frequencies with a hefty boost or cut of 12db in either direction. Adding some beef to lackluster pickups, taming a trebly guitar, or compensating for tone challenged amps is the MXR?s job, and it does the job well. We prefered this over the MXR 6 band and Boss GE-7 for versatility and overall EQ tweakability but it does fall short in a few crucial areas. The MXR is always on and there is no bypass. This makes it next to impossible to get an idea of the before and after results of your adjustments. We also wished there was an overall gain to to boost everything. After giving our old Teisco Del Ray guitar some much needed tone repair through the MXR we needed a little overall volume to make up for all the tweaks.

MXR M108

By Mikey Hughes

from princeton texas

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

this little pedal can really improve your sound whatever you play, there are alot of suggested ways to put this eq into your setup, you can put it in the effects loop, before or after your distortion ect. but it really just depends on what sound your looking for and what your using it with, i play metal and hardcore with a lot of gain and i place this pedal right after my guitar and right before my distortion and it really beefs up my distortion and makes it just sound plain better, it gives more definiton to palm muted notes and smooths out bar chords, this pedal can also be used as a boost pedal for solos ect. or even an overdrive pedal if you increase its gain its pretty expensive but for the ammount of control it gives and its durability its defianatley worth it. Anyone who wants control and richer sound should get this pedal!!!

Garage to Pro Instantly

By Pedalbored

from Harlan, Kentucky

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

First off this thing is built to last complete metal structure. This pedal can make the worst distortion pedal on the market sound pro. I'm running it with the DigiTech Black 13 and get a some what Lamb of God tone with it. It has volume and gain knobs that blink when your signal is being clipped and all the knobs light up when active. You'll have to play around with it for a few days here and there to get your tone but once you figure it out you can make any sound you disire. I got the 2 year coverage cuz MXR tends to have a problem with the stomp switches, but over all its a great pedal no problems for me. Its built great, sounds great, and for the money you definately get what you pay for. I highly recommend it to anyone of any style will make your sound go from garage to pro instantly. Lets you +/- up to 12dB on each setting and includes the 18v power supply.

Total Dynamic adjustment

By Johnny Gravebanger

from Nicholasville, Ky

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I am playing through a Kustom 200 watt 1988 bass head. Through an over sized peavy 4x12 equipped with 4 fender 100 watt 8ohm speakers. Ran through a Boss metal zone to a Gibson Les Paul Studio. As you would imagine with a bass amp and the frequencies a bass amp produces, the mids and high aren't going to cut through like they would on a guitar head this pedal changes all of that. This pedal allowed me to tighten my muddy low end and gain more crunch, also more high end and more mid cut through. I simply choose to play through a bass head because it gives a milder sound which accompanies a Les Paul's mahogany body nicely. I would highly recommend this pedal to anyone wanting a pedal built for durability, dynamics, and personalization. Even if you have your dream setup and sound, you STILL need this pedal. I have never used an MXR product before but I give this one 5 stars

Fantastic, everyone should own one!!!

By Michael

from Maryland

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I was kinda skeptical on what kind of pedal i wanted to buy at first, and i always came back to this one, seeing it may have been of some use. Literally within minutes i was able to get my amp sounding even bolder and cleaner than ever. It's a very easy pedal to use and also a great pedal. It's a lot better than most of the other Eq pedals on the market. I would have to say everyone need's one of these pedals in their collection. I still can't believe the tone i was able to get out of my Marshall Mod Four with this. I already thought my tone was good, but this defiantly added a lot of boldness too it and sharpness. I found the pedal to be very powerful also with the volume control and gain control extra.

Other Reviewers are Crazy

By Darren

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

This pedal is very nice but every other reviewer is giving it all 5 stars. I just don't think it warrants 5 stars, it's not the most spectacular pedal to ever have been made. It's very adequate, it's nice to be able to fine tune your tone but it just doesn't deserve that high of a rating. I own seven MXR pedals and enjoy them all but this pedal is in the bottom half of my MXR pedals when it comes to how useful I think it is.

Awesome EQ

By Will Crash.

from Knoxville, TN

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I play a Marshall JVM. The tone I was after could only be obtained by a Marshall but it needed to be heavier in the right places. The JVM was close but not quite and the Mesa's were miles away with no versatility. I bought the JVM and tried several rack eq's and then finally tried this one in my loop. Wow! What a difference. My tone is now crushing beyond belief. With the JVM and so many channel options and midi control, I can leave it on all the time and still achieve any sound I want. Great pedal.
