If you want to use amp distortion but get that extra distorted scooped sound, than this is what you need. 10 eqs does seem intimidating but it is simple after you use it the first time. You can distinctly hear what every eq is and what you been wanting. You can turn up the bass with out turning up the frumpy lows, and you can turn up the crunch like dimebag, and turn down the highest eq to still do sweeps without making people cringe. Ive been playing through a line 6 bogner tube head and being beat in bass by a marshall mg100 at the lower and middle volumes. Once i got this pedal his jaw dropped. If you have a tube head and love the warm sound but miss the deep bass and awesome distortion, or if you use a distortion pedal and want to turn down the mids lower with out the dry sound and turn up the treble without the slaying ring, than this is what you want. Once you get it, you will realize why you dont get the control you want out of three nobs. Email me if you have any questions.

This pedal completely robs the tone out of your guitar. It makes it very dry and brittle sounding, even when the pedal is switched off. The pedal simply being in the chain takes a tole on the sound of your guitar. I am very particular with guitar tone so this pedal does not live up to standards. The most important criteria I have when buying a pedal is that it sound like it was never connected when it is bypassed. I pedal shouldn't affect your tone while turned off; thats simply ridiculous. Failure of a pedal.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

Fantastic pedal, easy to setup, I have placed it directly after my MXR 69 prime distortion which has expanded the tones I can get from my the distortion and clean tones, for the price you get beat it.
Great EQ.

A Great Investment for Tone

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

This pedal is fantastic! It really gives the player the ability to shape your tone how you want. It's a versatile must have on any pedal board. You can tweak your tone use it as a boost or both. Going to a gig and using a house amp or someone else's stage amp? No problem, bring this pedal and you can dial right in. Works well with both my Fender Deluxe Reverb and Marshall JCM 900. The great thing with this pedal is you can experiment where you put in the line. You can put it before distortion/OD, after or in the effects loop. I highly recommend this easy to use portable pedal. I've been more excited about this pedal that any other pedal I've picked up recently.

THE ULTIMATE PEDAL!!!!

By Marcus Lambert

from Mitchell Indiana

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

This Pedal is (I'm almost lost for words) devastating and absolutely brutal!! I play metal and I had no idea what this pedal was going to do to my current set up. I bought it new in Louisville Kentucky and never demoed it at the store. I have a Peavey XXX super 40 and it is alright but man you kick this thing on and it's thrash time. This beast will transform your tone! I haven't tried it for on my clean channel yet, but I'm certain it will deliver flawless results. For metal I run this pedal in the effects chain as follows: Tuner, Chorus, Wah,Delay, and THIS MONSTER! I'd give it 2000 stars but the rating is only 5. I wonder if this pedal can equalize my effects pedal to make them sound even better than they do. Every Pedal I have is MXR, Jim Dunlop. PURE Lethality!

So Glad I Didn't Buy A Metal Pedal!!!!

By LEONARD HAYS _

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I use a Blackstar HT Stage 100 head with 412 cab. I set the amp's overdrive for a good hard rock British sound. When I or my band would play a heavier metal sounding song, I would switch to clean and run a scoopable metal distortion pedal. The MXR 10 band EQ has allowed me to alter my amp's overdrive tone for scooped mid metal sounds without a metal pedal and helping me keep my overdrive/distortion sound 100% natural which to me sounds the best! I get the best results running the MXR 10 Band EQ in the effects loop. IT WRAWKS!!!!!!

Take Your Amp to New Heights

By Paul Riggs

from Richmond, Virginia

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I bought a Boss GE 7 and wasn't fully sold on it because it is very noisy. I ordered the MXR 108 while the Boss was still in the 30 return policy and compared them side by side so I could keep the one I like best. After trying both pedals on various settings, I have to say that MXR has won me over. It is much more transparent than the Boss which seemed to color my tone some. I keep the EQ on all of the time and the MXR does a great job of giving me the great clean tone I want and it eliminated the harsh, screeching high tones that I used to get when i kick on my distortion pedals. It makes leads sound amazing and has made both of my distortion pedals sound rich, full and smooth (Boss Metal Core & MXR Distoion III). I give this pedal 4 stars because it still produces some noise (not as much as the Boss) and because it uses 18v power. Overall, I am very happy with this pedal as it allows you to shape and enhance your sound for any style without losing the integrity of your amp. If you are on the fence like I was, go with the MXR 108. It is not as noisy as the Boss and the 10 band eq gives you the ability to make subtle or drastic changes in your tone to get whatever sound you want.

Ok. Good EQ but poor dynamic range.

By petran Cunnifam

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I got this pedal for christmas. A ten band graphic EQ is a huge step from 3 band, but is very simple to use. You can't have extreme EQ, as it is limited to 12 dB boost or cut per band. I wanted to use it in conjuntion with a contact mic, but it had too much hum for that purpose. The level of hum is fine if you are running an instrument or synth through it, but starts to become a little problematic if you are going to apply distortion or compression to your instrument after this pedal, but it still works. The pedal also distorts easily, not giving it much dynamic range. To get the least hum and white noise, turn down the volume and turn up gain on the pedal. Another note is that this pedal emits some AM radio interference. The pedal has to be really close to the radio for this to happen, though. When the pedal is running, you'll hear a 210 hz tone that tonally resembles a clean stratocaster or distant trumpet from the radio if it's on AM. If the pedal is switched to bypass mode, then the tone drops a minor sixth and sounds more like a bowed cello. If the pedal distorts, then the tone wil flail in rhythm with the distortion indicator lights. I have enjoyed this unintended effect and if this is unwanted, then you just need to put the radio 5-10feet away from the equalizer while the equalizer is plugged in. I have had this pedal for 1 year and has been reliable, distortion and hum aside. I would not recommend this for professional sound reinforcement or professional recording, but for the instrumentalist who want to add EQ to his or her pedal chain who doesn't need that much dynamic range, go for it.

A Lifesaver!!

By Josh Jamison

from Cleveland, Ohio

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

i bought this pedal a few years back and had NO IDEA how to use it. i couldn't seem to get a good sound out of my Marshall MG series half cab, so i put this thing to work. this pedal is AMAZING. i was able to completely change my tone and deepen the sound, adding low ends, making my amp sound almost exactly like an all tube Marshall head. i cannot stress how extremely versatile this pedal is; from a metal scooped sound to a light crunch, if you cant find the sound you're looking for in this pedal, you never will!! this pedal is also extremely durable, that is not even a question.

Great pedal for rounding out a amp

By Jackson McIntyre

from Austin, Texas

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I currently run a Jackson KE3 Kelly with Seymour Duncan Black Outs through a Peavey Valveking. I've been unsatisfied with tone for a while so I picked up this pedal. It made me realize my amp has little low end on it. This pedal gives me the ability to dial in a little bass as well as take out a bit more of the massive amount of mid range in my amp. I run it through the effects return and send of my amp(which is preamped) for post distortion and it really gives me that super deep and punch scooped mids lead that I was looking for. Just try this pedal out, you will be amazed. On a typical amp you can only EQ 3 frequencies, this gives you the ability to EQ 10. Every guitarist should have one. End of story.

MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ

By Danny Gideon

from Ottumwa, IA

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

Bought 2 of these for 2 keyboards I am using. I have 2 sets of speakers, one set is 15's with horns, the other set is 8's with horns. I bought these EQ's for use with the smaller set of speakers to make them sound better for small gigs (retirement centers and VA orgs) I play for. They are just the ticket. I couldn't be happier with them. They make the smaller (and much more portable) set of speakers sound so good that I do not think I will be using the larger speakers for a very long time. It brought out the lows that were missing and sweetened up the highs. Great product.

Uh, yeah!

By JRod

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I got a Vox Valvetronix Ad120 which I have not been fond of. After hearing that an eq in the effects loop makes the world of difference I bought this Cadillac of eq's. Oh my oh my. It makes the amp usable and versatile. It can produce some noice but since I got a strat I also got a EHX Humdebugger which in tandem rocks me like a hurricane.
