The Blowtorch!

I bought this little monster in December for Christmas, and have had countless practices and two shows with it. The pedal really brings my bass sound out to the front. I love it! It has alot of tone-shaping control with the mid-range switch & the 3-band EQ. After playing around with these, you can have just the right bass and treble in your distortion. And then the blend and gain knobs can give you wide range of sounds - a subtle overdrive, a deep growl, or a gnarly high-gain distortion. And then with one push of the Torch switch on the side and you can add some chainsaw heaviness to your custom-made distortion. It's an MXR, so you know you will get high-quality electronics in an indestructable casing. It's a great ditortion pedal made for bass, and delivers much more tone and power than the Boss bass overdrive. If you are looking for something that will bring your bass out to the front, this is what you are looking for.

A lot of growl in a tough little box

MXR has been making effects for as long as I can remember, in fact, they were THE name in effects when I was a kid. They've been developing new effects for bass over the last few years and finally have gone for an overdrive/distortion designed for bass. MXR never seems to fail to put audiofile quality into tiny bullet-proof packages and the new MXR M-181 Bass Blowtorch Overdrive Distortion Pedal's no exception. Had a chance to plug my Ibanez Soundgear into one of the new M-181 Blowtorches and wow! While I'd prefer a dial for mid's the switch works fine and the key is the Blend Knob which lets you keep your clean signal tight while blending your distorted signal into the mix to dial in just the right amount of grit while retaining clarity. Another great product from MXR the M-181 Bass Blowtorch Overdrive Distortion blows away lesser bass overdrive/distortions and looks cool to boot.
