The MXR Blue Box takes your guitar signal, fuzzes it up, then duplicates it 2 octaves down. You control the output and the mix between the dry signal and the effect. Using it 100% wet is quite an experience, but more recognizable sounds appear as you dial in more dry signal. Great effect, with this pedal you're gonna be recognized and remembered everywhere you'd been. Me, I use in most of my songs when playing some intros and licks, and people come ask me how did I make my guitar sound as deep.. Use the blend knob at 3 o' clock position, and how it sounds with that fuzz 2 octaves down!
Listen to Jimmy Page's solo on Led Zeppelin, Fool in the Rain, if you want to know what this thing does. It's a one trick pony but it is a unique arrow in any guitarist quiver. It's part of my "toolbox." I've used it with good results on a few tunes in the studio. It does what it's suppose to do. Is it "good?" Well, like I said, listen to Page's solo. If that's what you want, that's what you'll get.
Well made unit simple. I would only recomend this pedal to those who want a little something extra to throw in the mix once in a while . It is probably not the most used effect on my board but it has a place .
