This mic was a pleasant surprise. I originally expected this mic to be a extra mic in my studio in case I needed something different or something happened to one of my usual mics. After testing the mic I found that it is great for vocal work. Now I have 3 of these mics and I use it for recording vocals 95% of the time. This mic has a very clear and defined sound to it which is exactly what I like. I also love using this mic on acoustic guitars. I find that this mic is the most used mic in my project studio, I assure you that you can not go wrong by having one in your studio (which is why I have 3).

The mic is very bright, kind of harsh on certain type of vocals. On very soft tones it works fine, but if there's a heavier voice, it gets rougher. Compared it with other 300-600 dollar mics in my studio - good extra overhead etc mic for 100 bucks, but definitely sticking to my old mics for lead vocals.

The Best Choice for Beginner Studio Recording!

By Joshua Herbert

from Port Huron, Michigan

This is probably by far the best price you can play for a great Condenser Microphone for any beginner recording artist. You can pretty much do anything with it if you put your mind to it! This microphone sounds better than any other dynamic microphone that you could use! I would recommend this Microphone to anyone for a beginner recording artist! And it's a well deserving 5 star microphone! Greatest Choice ever! You can not go wrong with it! :)

Great mic...fast delivery

By Keith Tede

from Blue Springs, MO

This is a great mic for studio work. It's a condenser so it is very sensitive. You'll need a real "Quiet" room to record with it. I was recording in my upstairs studio and my wife walked by the staircase downstairs and said something. I couldn't hear it very clearly but the mic picked it up and on playback, I could very plainly hear what she said. The coolest thing about this order was...I got the mic the day after I ordered it. Ordered on Thurs. Next morning I got on USPS website just to see if the tracking number would show up yet. It stated that it was on the truck for delivery. I couldn't believe it. It showed up later that day.

MXL V63M Condenser Studio Microphone with Shockmount

By Timothy Miller

from burlington ky

this is the first microphone that i have ever purchased and i have to say for the money that your spending for the quality your getting an awesome deal I've recorded with usb mics before and they don't do a justice unless your using them to record instruments when your recording vocals this is the way to go for this type of price and the shock mount is basic but its a bonus it helps alot i might be a beginner recording vocals ive been using a rock band mic for about a year for most of my recordings and when i recorded my old songs with this mic i cant describe to you the difference the only problem that i have with it is that it is really sensitive but if you know what your doing you can make some awesome music and the warranty for the price is a good offer to have all together with the mic shock mount carrying case and a couple more essentials along with the warranty i think total i spent $125 dollars around that and with all of my friends that record music around here there mics that they pay 100s of dollars for is no where compared to this one from what they say so if you want my opinion this mic is excellent for the price 5 stars just needs a little tuning

GREAT MIC FOR THE PRICE.

By samuel curcio

from woodbridge n.j

I own several mic's and the V-63 stands right up with them. this mic will deliver whether your singing a ballad or screaming to hard rock. The V-63 does such a nice job, that you will find using less E.Q. because of a better recorded vocal.

One versatile mic!

By marlon lim

from San Dimas Cali

This condenser mic is really awesome for recording vocals! You can also use this mic to record acoustic instrument as well. It's also very affordable considering the average price range of all the other marketed condenser mics. The shock mount on the other hand wasn't very durable. The screw that tightens the handle breaks really easily. But that can be replaced, no problem. One thing that this mic cannot do is mic up guitar amps live. This was the only mic I had at the time and the MXLV62M is waaay too sensitive for high gain playing. I mean you can do it, you just have to dial the gain really low on the mixing board, but then you lose your sound in the mix. Good mic overall though.

Great for Cleans

By Marcella Stucker

from Lemoore, CA

I bought this mic about 2 weeks ago and I finally got to test it yesterday. This thing is amazing for clean singing. My band plays with cleans, screaming, and heavy thrash style vocals, and altho this makes the cleans sound amazing, the screams and thrash will overcomp every single time. From even over 6 feet away the loud vocals just will not work with this mic. Don't get me wrong, this thing is like a dream for clean singing. And if that is what you are planning on recording. The for the love of god...BUY IT! If not, well just keep on lookin.

The Price is Right for this Mic

By Chris

from Chicago, IL

This microphone is more than its worth. I had bought all equipment needed to start recording previously and so when I got home and hit the record button, what I got was a very clear and concise sound. I have a basic in-home studio set up in my room so I don't exactly have a "dead room" to record in but the way this carded mic picks up straight on sound and minimizes background sound is extremely useful and impressive. I literally recorded an entire song with the tv on 5 feet away and all I could hear in the playback was my voice and practically nothing else. That's great quality for for the price. If I had to make a complaint though, I would say that some times in the play back my voice would be distorted and some words would be completely unheard and at other times it would be completely fine. It's kind of unpredictable and its' really just a guessing game when you hit the play button. Other than that, this mic is definitely worth the money and I would say it's a wise choice for the money-conscious budget buyer. Enjoy Recording.
