An MXL41S shockmount was included with my MXL 603S mic, and I love it! It?s durable, fits my mic perfectly, and eliminates unwanted noises from entering the mic via the mic stand. The MXL41S easily screws onto the threaded end of a mic stand or boom. This is a must for recording applications; and I definitely would?ve purchased this separately, had it not been included in the mic package.
My friend and I had just installed a new sound system at our church in November. Now we have a great sound system but we had one problem. At the lectern and pulpit the microphones was picking up the floor (people walking on the platform) vibrations. The vibration was going through the lectern and pulpit and through the goosenecks, to the mics. Also the noise from like putting books on the lectern. A big thump noise. We did not notice this much with our old sound system. It did not have the low end like the new system has now. My friend ask me what can we do stop this. I told him that we need to get some shock mounts. So he went and got two of the MXL-41 shock mounts. We put the shock mounts on the goosenecks and put in the microphones. No more floor and thumping noise. The new sound system sounds even better now.
I got a few of these to hold a few microphones. Fairly strong and lightweight, but wouldnt have minded them being a few dollars cheaper. By the time i got 4 of these, I could have probably purchased nicer mics that came with holders as well. Beware when buying microphones.
