Great mics, great price
I bought these mics as my first condensers. They are inexpsensive and they sound great. The 990 works great for vocals, acoustic guitars and as a room mic. The 991 is a highly sensitive mic and works well for recording ambience or the fret board of an acoustic. Using these two mics together produce a great atmospheric sound.
These are the first mics I've purchased for recording and I'm pleased with them. If you're an amateur at recording or not looking to spend alot of money these mics are for you.

WOW
Even if you don't need them now you should grab this deal up before the folks at MXL raise the price!!These things work like mad and if you break one you won't cry too hard. Vocally sweet, acoustic intruments sweet, electric guitar sweet!! Just plug and play and be wowed by the fact that you just bought 2 condenser mics for a hundred bucks.

GREAT MICS!!
At first, I was hearing bad reviews about theses mics. When I went to Guitar Center, I saw them for a good price and at that time, I needed a good mic for Vocals and overheads but I was limited on money. I bought this expecting a average mic, and turns out it is GREAT! I always use these mics for Acoustic guitar, and the 991 for overheads. I recomend these mics for the recording musican short on cash!

Great Product
This combo is awesome. The 991 pencil mic works perfect for acoustic guitar or bright sounds and does not capture much reverb off of walls (big plus). The 990 is awesome for vocal or amp micing. I am very pleased with the quality of the products. No on/off switch but thats easy to work around.

Great set of condenser mics
These mics are great for anyone just getting into audio recording. These are the first mics I've purchased for recording and I'm pleased with them. The 990 works great for vocals. The 991 is a highly sensitive mic and accurate works well for recording that clean sound of an acoustic. They are inexpsensive and they sound great. Using these two mics together produce a great sound.

Great Deal
Best deal out there. Both mics are amazing and at such a great price. I tend to use the 991 for guitar and other instruments, then I use the 990 for vocals. I really suggest going to buy this!

Good for reference recording too...
My band uses this pair to record practices in stereo and it sounds great. All you need is good mic placement, amp levels, and some blankets to kill the power of the drums and you are rocking and rolling with a good recording that can be posted on your web site or emailed around. Sometimes we then build off of the scratch tracks in Cubase and record overdub tracks.

There's nothing not to like in this thing.
Don?t be fooled by the price- this is a hardcore microphone. I record my quartet with an 8-channel mixer and computer w/ 2.5 mm jack. The sound quality is astonishing. My recording experience is only months old, but I've been singing for years and can see the value of this mic.

Geat Microphones!!!
I'm a drummer who does some recording in the house. For the money, these mic's are great. They sound good, they're durable, and they do the job. I've bought this set twice. I use the two 991 mics for overheads and and the 990's for room mics. Great stuff MXL ....

EXCELLENT FOR EVERY JOB!
I purchased these mics back in 2003, and they have not let me down since!
I have used them on many different units, including a Behringer UB1202 and a Presonus Firepod. Either way, the mics sound amazing!
I actually use both mics when recording acoustic guitar... the 991 on the fretboard and the 990 about six inches away from the soundhole. The result? Clear, crisp, and powerful sound.
When recording drums, I usually use the 990 as an overhead above the left side of the drumset, and the 991 as a direct mic for the hat, in addition to the other mics I have placed around the kit. Amazing sound comes out of just those two!
The point? BUY THESE MICS! You will not regret your decision! The price is cheap, but these mics will last you a lifetime! (If you care for them properly)
