Overview

The M-Audio Trigger Finger-16 MIDI Drum Control Surface puts the power to program and perform expressive percussion and drum parts at your fingertips. Its 16 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads are perfect for playing the drum sounds in your favorite software, launching loops and samples, or even controlling video projections. Trigger Finger also gives you 8 knobs and 4 faders that are freely assignable to MIDI parameters such as volume, pan, pitch, and effects. Preprogrammed maps for Live, GM Drum, XG Drum, iDrum, and more make setup a snap, while full programmability lets you customize the unit to fit your needs. Settings are easy to store via 16 presets, and M-Audio's free Enigma librarian software for PC and Mac lets you create and store a big collection of presets. A simple USB cable is all it takes to connect and power Trigger Finger with your computer. If you've got drum tracks to program, Trigger Finger is the tool you need. Comes with Ableton Live Lite 4.

really really hard to use with reason, can not for the life of me figure out how to map this for reason, works with general plug-ins but basicly got this for reason and was disapointed when i couldnt not use it and still am not able to use it. you have to hit the pads really hard and to make noise, works ok but nothing compared to the mpc

Good stuff!

By Alex Soler

from Illinois

I have used the trigger finger for about 1 year now and have had no problems at all. I use it with Reason 3.5 and Logic Studio. Ever since I got it makes makings drum beats a lot easier and faster. Also I use it for music stabs/hits. Again I have used it for many projects and have never had any issues. It is also a plug and play instruments. You can easily map the knobs and faders for more DAW control. I recommend any one who needs to make music patterns easily and quickly.

Difficult at the beginning

By Emannuel Rojas

from Tijuana Mxico

I bought the trigger finger 4 days ago. The first day i couldn̴t trigger any sounds at all. I found the drivers online, the installation was relatively easy, but when wanted to use it with MIDI software the problems began, the manual doesn̴t give you an exact explanation on how to use it with the mainstream software out there. I still can̴t use it with Reason, maybe its because I use Vista but that should be M-Audio's problem, not mine. I've been jamming with Ableton Live though, and it sounds great. The TF is difficult to program but thats just because once you get the hang of how to assign parameters, the versatility of the instrument knows no boundaries. Its a solid product, but I wish M-Audio could provide the TF with in-depth support and instructions for using it with MIDI software, it would save buyers a lot of time and would earn this review an extra star.

M-Audio Trigger Fingers

By RedSpinz

from Olympia, WA

It's hard to get started, it's hard to get sounds on pads...it's basically hard and frustrating. Unless you've been in the studio all your life then it's easy. If it's your first midi controller then you will get frustrated quick.

wonky build quality

By dxcease

from killeen tx

i use this for various purposes in live, and as a midi controller, its great, especially with impulse kits and basslines. i've also mapped various pads and knobs for no look transport while recording vocals in my closet, which works well enough... however, i seemed to obliterate the usb port in less than 6 mos... not convienent. still works midi wise with external power. pads can seem a little glitchy at times, and dont let kids near it, lest you might lose knobs and sliders!
