Rock-Solid Professional DJ Hardware
Torq Xponent is a complete hardware/software system that delivers everything a professional DJ needs to perform with a computer. Xponent is both an advanced MIDI control surface for Torq and a four-output USB audio interface--including two stereo RCA outputs and a standard 1/4" headphone output for cueing. Every control on Xponent boasts the same rock-solid construction and rugged feel as traditional DJ hardware. So if you're ready to make the leap to the world of software-based DJing, you'll feel right at home with Xponent.
Full Digital File Library Compatibility
Torq DJ software allows you to cue, beat-match and mix all the important digital audio file formats, including MP3, AIFF, WAV, WMA, Apple Lossless and AAC. And for a truly effortless set-up, Torq locates and catalogs your song files (including your iTunes library) into a quickly searchable database that resides on the computer's hard drive--letting you pull up the perfect track or change up your set in an instant.
DJing is all about the connection between you, your music and your audience. From cueing to beat-matching to scratching, the best DJ tools allow you to literally get your hands on your music. We designed the Xponent with a full array of tactile controls so you can get into the music and engage the crowd at every moment of your set.
Xponent's mixer section lets you deliver a dynamic performance with the same feel and response as a standard hardware mixer. For DJ CD player-style control, the unit includes two touch-sensitive scratch wheels for scratching, speeding up and slowing down the playback of digital files. And for in-depth control over Torq, Xponent adds 64 assignable backlit buttons (including Play, Cue, Seek, Loop, Key and Sync controls), two volume sliders, eight assignable knobs for effect control and two 100mm pitch sliders. The built-in touchpad/assignable X/Y controller allows you to control your mouse or the effects in Torq, so you never have to take your hands off the unit in the middle of a performance. Level and progress LED meters round out all the pro features you would expect.
Made to Work Together
Torq DJ software for Mac and PC automatically configures itself to work with Xponent--with every hardware control pre-mapped to its corresponding function in Torq. It's easy to get up and running with Xponent because all of the hardware controls are located exactly where you'd expect them to be. The transition into digital DJing couldn't be simpler.
Go Beyond Hardware
Torq Xponent provides much more than a transparent combination of hardware and software--it allows you to take DJing and live performance in wild new directions. With VST effect compatibility and easily assignable hardware controls, you can turn your plug-ins into expressive live performance tools. Call up a flanger effect and layer on LFOs--or mix in feedback loops from a delay effect and control it all from the assignable knobs on Xponent. The system also provides everything you need to loop, reorder and remix tracks on the fly. With built-in controls for looping as well as a 16-cell, tempo-synced performance sampler, Torq makes it possible to grab loops and one-shot samples and drop them wherever you like, all while staying perfectly in sync with the mix.
Plays Well with Others
In addition to VST compatibility, Torq can interface with any ReWire-compatible host application. You can easily route the output of Torq to a program like Pro Tools M-Powered or Ableton Live and explore even more performance, production and sound design possibilities. When ReWired to a host application, the tempo of Torq automatically locks to the current session tempo, so you never have to worry about syncing playback between Torq and your preferred DAW. Xponent also makes it simple to control any software application that supports MIDI learn functionality.

It seems to work well on my desktop PC with 3 gigs ram and a duo core 2.2 processor but on my mac book pro with 4 gigs ram and 2.16 duo core it crashed the system.......STRANGE??????? I have also had audio problems with a couple of connections and bad scratchy sounds coming from them if a connection plug is moved. This happens on both my PC and MAC BOOK. It has the greatest features and would be an excellent product if there was more time taken in development. I am going to wait 1 yr. and see if they redesign it and make it better but for now I went a bought a VESTAX and it has no problems what so ever but not as many features.......COME ON M-AUDIO..REDESIGN THIS AND GET IT RIGHT SO THAT IT WILL BE THE BEST ON THE MARKET.........I was really looking forward to using this one.......

I waited and waited for this for months. I even sold my mixer and 1200s hoping to save my back from lugging equipment around. I have had notnig but problems with this. I mean the layout the idea and the fact that connectiv and torq are pretty good, this just doesnt work right. I hooked it up to two NEW laptops PC and a new macbook. It crashes everytime you slam the (too loose) faders. I really wish they wouldnt have rushed this because it would be the best thing out there but...? BE CAREFUL!!!!

I have been messing with 20lb turntables for 4 years, and I didn't like the fact that I have to have my car to haul them around with and the fact that I have went national over the past few weeks is going to be hard without a better system and portability. The second I bought it is literally right out of the box plug and play. My custom style of selecting tracks is to open a window off my flash-drive, grab a couple tracks, and drop em in to the Torq program, cue it and press play. What is so hard about that? I don't want to feel the need of going through a program's browser and try to figure out what the name of the artist is. It takes 3 minutes to do that. I don't have 3 minutes. With Xponent, and Torq along with a MackBook or a PC laptop, getting a track ready only takes 10-15 seconds, especially if i screw up somewhere and play the same track twice. Definitely worth the money Makes me 1.5x better at scratching as well. If you have music on your computer and want to be a DJ, This is the program and hardware for you, all day.
it crash weird sound hardrive not found it and it look cheap
Personally Im not a fan of the laptop DJs and the stigma that is attached to it. I have used this MIDI controller as well as other - but I have to say that - in the long run - this isn't where its at. I though the Xponent has a bit of a cheap build quality and I didn't like the feel of the buttons either. Save yourself the time and step up to CDJ's or Vinyl right away and learn the basics. For the price of the Xponent you could pick up a used CDJ - and be far more prepared to one day mix in a real club. The buttons are far too tacky for my liking and I think that the platters also have too much tackyness to them. Overall - not worth the money.
i been using this product for about 6months a friend recommend it, it is great=] specially if you use it with Virtual DJ, i dont like the Torq or Tracktor. only thing they for got was an Mic input!!! i didnt notice till i had it, therefore, jsut buy a mixer and use it to connect your mic=] but it is a great product with nice features.
I have always been on the fence on whether my older PowerBook G4 was powerful enough to handle this, but it has worked ALMOST error free for over 6 months of increasingly heavy usage, on a 17" PB G4 1.67GHz w/2GB RAM, repurposed exclusively for Torq Xponent. Running internal and external 7200RPM 160GB HDs helps, I guess. l Had a couple close calls, including a deck becoming unresponsive, and I had 1 or 2 close calls when was analyzing files on the fly, spontaneous additions, at last second, and my G4 showed its slowness then. I am not sure if Torq 1.5.2 introduced bugs over 1.5.1, or whether my increasing usage of this is just introducing my mistakes.. I have turned this into the centerpiece of my portable gig, this is my new fave.
I've had my XPonent for a few months now, after a few bugs in the beginning (driver updates), the xponent easily became my number one choice at home and in the club. The only reason I gave a four was the software it was packaged with isn't very good, I use my Xponent with VDJ and i have no problems at all, everyone in the club compliments it, it is a beautiful piece of electronics, for the price it is definitely worth it!
i use the xponent with an external sound card and everything works great. I also rewire through ableton live to add in extra beats to my sets. I am a big fan of the xponent but i recommend using an external sound card because its built in sound card is poor, the base can be fuzzy. All in all this devise is cool, but you gotta baby it because it does feel plasticy, but so far i have had no problems with it (other than the sound output). i use it with a macbook pro with 3 gig of ram, and i run ableton live with it and its all good......
You have to wonder why your particular computer systems aren't good enough for the Xponent. I have been running this baby for a year now and it hasn't given me any problems since I got my new Macbook Pro. It has a 500gb 7200 rpm HD and 4gb PC25300 SDDR. It's compatible with the new version of Torq, Traktor, and also Virtual DJ. The only way to get around not having to make tqd file is to use the Itunes database and make it faster.
In my opinion this unit is worth every cent I spent on it. I had to return the first one I bought because the headphone output was only putting out on the left side. But after that my new one has worked flawlessly! You do have to go into the m-audio website and download the user manual to find out what way you want to set it up. When I first played with this unit I was amazed with all the features it has built it. It has a midi effect that you can use the drag of a finger to activate, or the traditional knobs. The platters are touch sensitive on the tops (ADJ too!) and pitch control on the sides(ALSO ADJ!) If you don't want to go out and spend $1500 bucks on MK-5's, a mixer and Serato this is the way to go. It has your booth outputs, a master out put and a head phone jack. Everything you need is in this unit!
I dont't know why everyone on here has had so much trouble. I have a Macbook 2.0 and it worked flawlessly right out of the box. At first it crashed once in a while but once you get torq 1.5 which is the FREE update from M-Audio it will work flawlessly. The interface is great and is lag free along with the software it all meshes perfectly. One thing I love about the software is that you can simply hook up anyones Ipod to your laptop and easily search through there library and play and mix there songs. Over all this is a great product and I would recommend to any DJ.
