I purchased my first M-Audio sustain pedal 2 years ago, but the problem is this will be my third pedal within 2 years. This is an excellent product hands down. The pedal is not moved around or anything. I use the M-Audio every Sunday and sometimes during the week. Cosmetically its in superb condition, but for some reason it some how loses it sustain. This product according to durability is great but when it comes to longevity interior functionality its needs some improvement

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

I did not buy this pedal from Guitar Center so this is no reflection on them. This is only my experience of the product. I have had 2 of these pedals and will not buy another unless it is the only one available in a crunch. These pedals have put me in a bind twice on live gigs. If you use this pedal please make sure you have a backup. The internal screws fall out. The cheep metal inside will bend and cause the connections to fail. I would pay more money for a better pedal. I would have paid more money for this pedal if it were professional quality but it is not.

I purchased this to use with my Casio CTK 6250. Polarity switch on the bottom lends itself to uses with other keyboards. No complaints!

There is a plastic pedal that comes with Yamaha pianos that's ok but this is a lot nicer.

I bought this pedal a little over two months ago and it suddenly stopped working. This was used only in a studio environment (didn't even try touring with it!). Very disappointed.

Good starter pedal. Needs repairing after a few months. Not for gigging or live performances.

            By Michael Salgado

            from Southern California

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

This was one of the first pedals I bought a long while back at Guitar Center. After around the half year mark the pedal began to fail. It had intermittent functionality. As others have stated, it took a bit of fudging with the cable to get it working. I took it apart and noticed that the cable was getting chewed up by the mechanical part of the pedal itself. I re-soldered it on and re-positioned the cable to be out of the way completely. I also had used some epoxy to make doubly sure that it wouldn't start getting chewed up again. Since then it hasn't failed. It's been 3 years. If your pedal fails and you are proficient at basic soldering, take it apart and do a quick fix-it. The short stuff: If you want a decent low-priced starter practice pedal, this will work. Just keep in mind what others and I have stated. However, if you are looking for a performance pedal, or something that you can have confidence with in not failing you while gigging, this is definitely not the pedal for you. It might eventually leave you hanging mid-performance. I still use this as a spare practice pedal for a separate keyboard after repairing it myself. I've since moved on to other pedals.

M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal is Superb

            By Brent Leamons

            from Odessa, TX

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

I bought one of these to go with my M-Audio Keystation 88es and the pedal is great. It's not a light-weight pedal, so it doesn't move around on the floor (carpet in my case) at all. It has a very sturdy build and looks great too. It works very well as a sustain pedal for my 88es and is very affordable too. I highly recommend this pedal.

            Unreliable, Get The Extended Coverage

            By Dale McFarland

            from Dallas, Texas

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

As you can see by the reviews, you take your chances with this pedal. It works great until it stops working. The last one I bought went out after 10 gigs. (GC exchanged it without hesitation. 5 Stars for them.) The one before that lasted a couple of years, with a little help from my soldering iron. With the latest price drop, there's no reason not to buy the extended 2- or 3-year coverage. For me, the pedal feels good with just the right amount of resistance. It slides a lot on wood floors, not so much on carpet or concrete. Overall it's a good inexpensive pedal, especially if you need the polarity switch. But M-Audio needs to re-examine their quality control.

Inexpensive - You Get What You Pay For

            By Doug Archerd

            from Battle Ground, WA

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

This damper pedal is inexpensive, but is inferior in quality to the Roland damper pedal. Unfortunately, while the M-Audio product has a switch to reverse the signal (i.e. between press-to-sustain and press-to-dampen), my Roland pedal only works on my Roland board so I couldn't swap it out for my M-Audio pedal when the M-Audio started to fail after 8 months or so of regular gigging. An I haven't yet found a pedal that will stay put on the floor without being taped down, but the M-Audio product wanders around worse than most - its light-weight construction hurts it. I would not recommend this pedal for anything other than home use.
