If you are looking to buy a great keyboard/ arranger BUY THIS KEYBOARD. I am a professional musical director and do a lot of live orchestra with some recorded tracks. This keyboard is great! I didn't even have to read the manual (which you SHOULD do)! I plugged it in and I just started working. It's powered by USB which makes is even more amazing! A definite YES in my book! By the way, the key action on this keyboard is great and much better than advertised!

I got this board to go along with my personal workstation so I could play piano parts the way there were meant to be in the first place. When I bought this board I was fully aware that I was not going to get grade A material but what I received was way below my expectations. Two weeks in and the keys emit weird noises, also the velocity sensitivity is lacking accross the spectrum, for some reason some keys are more sensitive then others especially in the mid range. I would recommend this to begginers or live performances, but if you need intricate passages to come out perfectly, look somewhere else.

Excellent Keyboard, Great Price, and Very Good Quality

By Brent Leamons

from Odessa, TX

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

After doing some research for an affordable keyboard controller, I decided to go with the M-Audio Keystation 88es. I'm really glad I did now. I'm really pleased with the quality and feel of the 88es and could easily have paid much more for something similar and not have been as impressed as I am with the M-Audio. The 88es plugged right into my iMac and was ready to play with no setup at all. I really have no complaints at all with this product and I would highly recommend it to anyone that needs a very simplistic keyboard controller especially if you are budget minded like me. The keys are semi-weighted and have a very slightly stiff feel, but otherwise are very nice to play. The 88es is very light weight, has a very nice appearance and does everything that I needed it to do. It seems to be a very well built and sturdy piece of equipment, so road trips shouldn't be any problem. I've only had mine for two weeks now, but so far I've had no problems at all and it makes a great addition to my home studio. I can easily give the M-Audio 88es my highest recommendation and an easy five star rating.

The only 88-key keyboard near its price.

By Steven Berliner

from LaGrange IL

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

I'll make this quick since I know you'd rather learn about the keyboard than read my writing. It's very light for an 88-key keyboard (25 pounds) and is about 4 and a half feet long. It's made out of plastic, though, and it feels fragile to me, but I think it'll last as long as I don't move it much. (I'd trust it in a sturdy case, though, if I had to move it.) It's a very sharp looking keyboard and would look good on stage if it's on a stand long enough. Due to it being light it can easily be put on any old single-X stand, but it doesn't look good unless its on a full-sized stand. The keys are not very weighted, though. They feel close to synth-action to me. You can still take this board seriously while playing it, though. I used to use a really cheap-o MIDI keyboard that felt like a toy, and this thing feels a lot better than that. Also, the keyboard comes with Ableton Live Lite M-audio Enhanced, which is basically a very, very stripped down version of Live 6 (not 8, I said 6.) I dislike it as a DAW, but it has a few cool synth sounds that you can use with ReWire to use in other DAWs, so it works as some extra virtual instruments to me. However, if you're new to the whole recording thing and you'd like to get started with your first DAW, it's more than sufficient, especially if you're into electronic music; there's a lot of good sounds to make beats with. I'll post more if anything else comes up, since I recently bought this. But for now, I'm content with giving this a 4-star rating. The fact it has 88 keys is the only reason I could see somebody wanting it, but the fact it has 88 keys is really cool.

Great keyboard controller for the price.

By Angelo Bellezza

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

There is little to complain about in regard to this keyboard. The only things that I do not like are the weird spring noises and occasional crunchy sounds when playing. Believe it or not, these sounds got quieter and less frequent the more I played the keyboard. Odd, but true. I use this keyboard everyday for midi note entry and for quiet practice when I am not playing my piano. I would recommend this keyboard to anyone that doesn't want to spend a lot but needs 88 keys.

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

I bought this keyboard just to mess around with and im quiet surprise by something this awesome at this price.I have never used a midi controller in my life before and this took only 5 minutes or less to set up (just download a driver at the m-audio site, plug in, open up a program in my case the native instrument xpress keyboard and play) this is as simple as it gets. It's great quality and the semi-weighted keys feels amazing!!!!!! It has been about 2 months since I purchased this keyboard and have had no problems with it yet

Great Keyboard

By nopixels

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

I bought the 88es about three years ago to round out my home studio, and I've loved every minute of it. This controller is extremely easy to use ۡ true plug-and-play. It doesn't come with any frills ̴ۡ_but that's what your software program is for. It is very light weight, which is great if it needs to be moved around. However, I've sometimes worried that I'll tip it if I get a bit heavy on the extreme ends of the keyboard. I'm quite impressed with the sensitivity and touch quality of the keys. I run it with an M-Audio SP-1 sustain pedal, which is a nice addition. It's an extremely good product, especially at this price point.

Good controller, using Windows 7 64 bit

By Tim

from Oceanside, CA

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

This is an awesome controller and the best bang for your buck out there. I prefer the 88 over the smaller sizes for no restrictions on creativity! Just make sure you do research on what OS you have (ex: win7 64bit, win vista, etc) even if it says there are no drivers available on their site for Win 7, windows 7 has a built in midi driver. It works good, just do research on your ASIO stuff as well! Good luck.

basically as advertised

By loganizer

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

At the time that I purchased this, there were not yet 64 bit windows drivers available for it. So if that's what you are using, basically you can only use the keyboard with one program at a time. You should be able to find out if this issue has been resolved (if you absolutely need this kind of functionality) by going to the M-Audio site before purchasing. A great set of keys for the money

Basically as advertised

By Loganizer

from Springfield, UT

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

One thing I would maybe try to bring your attention to here, depending on which OS you are planning to use this device with... *There are still (as of 08/2009) no 64bit windows drivers available from the M-Audio site. Which basically means, the device still works, but with only one program at once. So if that is a limitation you care about, maybe check on the M-Audio site to see if these drivers are available yet. * This limitation is apparently not a factor on OSX

Great Value, Great Possibilities

By Godz3839

from Rockford, Il

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

I purchased this keyboard about 6 months ago. I was in dire need of a midi keyboard and this one jumped out at me. Not only for the price, but I was in love with the fact that it was a full 88-key. The feel of the semi-weighted keys is different than a regular piano, but easy to get used to. I didn't even bother to read the manual I just hooked it up to my Mac right out of the box and started playing in Garage Band. It's serviced me very well and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an 88-key midi controller and uses programs like Garage Band, FL Studio, Reason, etc.

Excellent for the price you pay

By Andy

Comments about M-Audio Keystation 88es USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

i bought this because i wanted a full size midi controller. It is plug in and play, so very easy to use, and it was inexpensive. It does everything is is supposed to and the volume slider is a real nice feature. I used it with garageband, and i couldn't have asked for anything better. It is exactly what you expect.
