Outdated Hardware

By Michael Jellison

from San Francisco, CA

Please note that the 5-stars reviews are from 2006. This was a great cheap controller then, but M-AUDIO never bothered to update their compatibility with modern operating systems so make sure to do some research before getting this if you have a computer newer than 2007.

Great for constructing a virtual organ

By Clive H

from Yardley, PA

I purchased 4 keyboard units to strip out the keyboard manuals and midi converters before inserting them into a custom built organ body. They are nice solidly made manuals and my son, who ia the musician, tells me that they have a nice touch and work perfectly with his high end PC using Hauptwerk software. He is looking forward to several years of hard use as a practice instrument (it's a lot cheaper than the real thing, and much smaller.) For anyone thinking about doing the same, just make sure that the inbuilt keyboard software program is reset to "original settings" using the appropriate black key before commencing disassembly.

Great for beginners

By singer89

from Pennsylvania

This product was great for me with my Mac. I love using it with Garageband and an exterior amp to make some great sounds. But if I could I would buy the 88 key with weighted keys. I initially bought this for practicing piano scales, but the feel is different going from this to a real piano. Very simple and easy-to-use with a Mac, great investment.

Great simple controller for the price

By Space Vacuum

from Concord, CA

M-Audio gets flack at times for cheap build quality, but this unit is not of that ilk. I use this as my main controller on stage, and it holds up to the rigors of road-abuse quite well. The key action is very nice, with just the right amount of spring to them. The only gripe I have with this unit is that it does not come with an AC adapter for us USB challenged stage musicians...but a quick trip to the local electronics store and $10 later for a universal AC adapter sets that straight. Overall, a good value by M-Audio.

M-AUDIO THE GREAT

By K9

from New Orleans

Forget all the negative remarks that you've heard about this midi keyboard. I've owned this model for well over three years now. It is still flawless. It has been dropped and exposd to all sort of conditions and everything still works on it. Wish it had more sliders and knobs thought.

Simplicity=Perfection

By Hamma

from Boston, MA

The keystation 61 es is simply keys used to control sounds on your pc. I use the keystation es for hiphop production with fl studio 6 and an AKAI MPD16. The keystation 61 es is very sturdy and user friendly. I also use another keystation 61 es with my Motif ES rack,Also a good combination. Overall the Keystation ES is a good piece of equipment to use with hardware and software sequencers.
