If you're like me who just plugs in a mic or guitar and wants a decent output for your monitors (Mine are a set of AV40s), then this is a great interface. 24 bit, 44.1 or 48 kHz, 48V phantom power to the mic channel. Dead easy to set up. Just go online and download the latest drivers and plug in. Unless you're using XP, which requires just a quick restart before you plug in. Works fantastic on Windows 7. USB powered, and the whole thing is just a little smaller than my hand when opened, so easy to take with you in a laptop case. The latency difference between direct sound from your computer to this is a major difference. I can actually play along while running a couple of VSTs using this thing! Very much worth the money. The Pro Tools Essential is very cut down, but it'll help you learn a thing or two about Pro Tools if you're thinking about using that as you're main DAW software. Knobs are very easy to adjust on the smaller margins. The whole thing feels really sturdy as well. Really, I could go on about the quality forever. If you're just doing mono takes with instruments and mics and would like a decent output, just buy this thing!

I bought this product about two months ago, and not one problem I had with it could be solved. I have Windows 7, and use Reason 5 to produce. When i first got this interface, i noticed how much more crisp it was compared to my stock HP audio, but it has a horrible glitch that most people experience. The interface will have horrible distortion that can only be fixed by a restart of your computer; this is such a burden. I would recommend the PreSonus AudioBox over this.

The M-Audio Fast Track MK11 is the best most simple and new interface on the market. If your a producer or have a home studio or if your a noob recording artist this baby is the way to go!!!!.The software is Pro-tools M-powered (Essential)its basically the same a normal M-powered but not as many tracks. But for one to two people this thing is PERFECT!!!!.

Great Product So Far!

By Justin

from Atlanta, GA

I picked this up in hopes that I could easily record on my mac using GarageBand. It fulfilled those hopes. It was easy to use right out of the box. More advanced users might find it short of features, but for this newbie it's just right. It does what it says it will do very well--record a guitar and vocals. The phantom power is a great addition to. No gripes from me. I'm loving it already. But again, this is probably just for those like me who are just getting started in recording.

Very satisfied

By bandeeto

from Lehi, Utah

Bought this interface after an extremely unsatisfying experience with apogees ONE. the Fast Track works. What else can I say. No issues so far. Sounds very good with the stearling audio mic i bought with the money left over from trading in the ONE. Doesn't have a midi in, but midi is via USB now so that's not an issue. Quiet, i'm liking the top knobs a lot, and easy to use. Just plugged it into my home setup and went back to recording/writing/arranging/and practicing without skipping a beat. If it proves (continues) to be reliable then that's money well spent! I am a happy man.

I wanted stereo!!!

By Christoph!

from Fort Worth, TX

I bought this a few short days ago looking to hook up my EQ board to this and get it through the usb in my computer. The XLR input records strictly on the left audio input while hooked in the usb, while the "guitar" jack only records right. If thats all you want, this is a great unit, but if you want stereo from both, this is not the way to go.

What I've been looking for!

By Jarrod

from Dayton, OH

I went into my local guitar center trying to get some decent software, and an interface. One guy tried to sell me Cubase, and some ridiculous pod, but then a different salesman showed me this one. What a great deal! The software is awesome for what I do, and I couldn't be happier. This is the way to go. In fact I knew it was good because this is the exact pod they use on their demo Mac they have set up there.

Yeah, it,s great!

By Armstrumentals

from Greensboro, NC

Bought this interphase to run with FL Studio 9. It is absolutely amazing! It is very easy to use and it looks cheap, but the quality that you get out of it is other worldly. I had to update my drivers, but after that, every thing ran beautifully. I would recommend this interphase to beginners and many others.

Great buy for the money!

By Kenny

from Miami, FL

I bought this product because I wanted an interface I could record music on, and it provided me with exactly what I wanted. I use this interface all the time with Garageband on my Mac and it's great. The Pro Tools 8 Essential software it comes with is also very good; I'm glad it's free. Although this interface may only have one guitar input and one microphone input, it works great for one person. That is why I got it, because it was just for me and it succeeded all my expectations. This is a great product, sorry for those who didn't get to buy it when it was on sale, you would have gotten way more bang for the buck. Thanks.

Just what I was looking for

By Chris

from Troy, MI

I was looking for something simple to make an acoustic album, with decent quality, and this thing is perfect. My set-up is very basic: M-Audio Fast Track and my AT2020 Audio Technica mic...both are hooked up to my Toshiba Satellite laptop. It runs fine on Windows 7, and I use it with Acid 7.0. Pro tools SE came with it, but that program is, and will probably always be, a bit over my head. If you do decide to use the Pro Tools software that comes with the M-Audio and you are a Windows 7 user, you may receive the following error when opening the program: "ASIO error"... or something along those lines. To bypass this error you just need to switch your default playback device to your computer's soundcard. In my first test run with the M-Audio Fast Track I wasn't getting sound out of the recordings, but with a simple switch (right clicked on volume, recording devices, M-Audio, properties...listen to device) it was fixed and it sounded beautiful. For the money, this is a great interface. I recorded my last album using a Soundcraft COMPACT4 Mixer ($150) and that thing pales in comparison to this amazing interface. For acoustic recordings/a few vocal tracks... this thing sounds professional. Great investment, and I would urge anyone else looking to record an acoustic album to purchase this item.
